Is Totti currently the best Italian CF?
Should definitely start for Italy in my opinion, more reliable than Balo and a far better option than the Matris, Gilardinos, Miccolis and Osvaldos of the world.

I agree completely, still no idea why he wouldn't get a look considering he still has the legs for a tournament and would give you a Pirlo on the front line to open up even more channels or finish goals himself.

Instead of Balo, no way.
Why is Balo unreliable?
With him, perhaps, but that requires a change in formation and you dont bring someone like Totti along so you can bring him off the bench. Even at that age.

I expect SES to start alongside Balo in 2014.

Balo has been reliable for Italy since Euro 2012 and reliable for Milan since he joined other than one incident which if he wasn't called Balotelli he wouldn't have got suspended for anyway.

You obviously dont know what you're talking about. He was handed a 3 match last season too(which later got reduced to two) for swearing at the referee. So thats two suspensions already in the space of 9 months. And there's also a reason why some of the Milan staff/players have come out and criticized his behavior and didnt appeal against the recent ban he copped not to mention Prandelli has warned him quite a few times to maintain code of conduct while with the NT and IIRC he was dropped from the squad too recently i dont remember for which incident exactly. So yeah, saying he's 'reliable' is a bit of an overstatement.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Balo has been reliable for Italy since Euro 2012 and reliable for Milan since he joined other than one incident which if he wasn't called Balotelli he wouldn't have got suspended for anyway.

Saying he is unreliable is even more of an overstatement.
Unpredictable would be the right word.

Mole the thing is that a World Cup is 7 games long if you reach the final. If Balo threatens a ref again and gets handed another 3 match ban he's out for essentially half the tournament. That's the guy you want to build your team around?

Re: Is Totti currently the best Italian CF?
I think if Totti is willing, he should definitely be called up. When hes playing once a week hes still probably Italys best forward. Only Rossi and Balotelli can even try to fight that claim. The forwards we should bring to the WC should be: Balotelli, Totti, Rossi, El Shaarawy, and either Giovinco or Quagliarella depending on who performs better for Juve this season.

Did Balo do anything out of the control at the Euros?

Balo is waaaay too talented to be left out of anything no matter if he starts hitting people in the face like Zlatan did in Serie A.

The double standards people have towards Balo is hilarious.
And at same time advocates Totti Don't get me wrong I love the guy but his disciplinary record is far from exemplary.

Re: Is Totti currently the best Italian CF?
Agree with Mole to an extent. Totti is no saint himself and this comes from a huge fan of his. He's well capable of petulance when he doesn't get his way. We haven't seen much of that because he's well.....gotten his way most, if not all, the time.
Also, I would prefer he not be called up to La Nazionale. I think he will answer Prandelli's call ultimately if that happens, but that's bad for Roma in the long run. Things like this will lead to a quicker retirement more often than not.

Watching Roma attempt to play without him in the squad speaks volumes about his importance to this Roma team.

The man is still a class act
However, how he'd perform in Europe with the insane pressing is another question. Hopefully Roma get in the top 3 and we can see how he does next year.
