Pablo Daniel Osvaldo has hailed Roma captain Francesco Totti as one of the greatest after his latest achievement in the Italian capital.

Totti broke a League scoring record at the weekend when he became the most prolific player at one club – his 211 Serie A strikes surpassed the 210 which Gunnar Nordahl struck for Milan.

“Francesco is unique,” the Argentine-born Italian international told the ANSA news agency. “He’s not only a phenomenon, he’s actually the best Italian player of all time…”

Totti’s latest feat was also applauded by Italy boss Cesare Prandelli, who opened the door for an unlikely Azzurri recall.

“To go to the European Championship alongside Totti would be a dream,” continued the summer signing from Espanyol.

Osvaldo was also quizzed on rising star Erik Lamela, a player who he did have a confrontation with earlier this season.

“I think that Lamela has only reached 50 per cent of his potential,” the centre-forward noted. “I don’t know if he will be Totti’s heir, but he’ll go close.”
