I think his current goal tally is impairing people's rationality. He's not worth more than 30-35m atm. If he continues this form for a couple of more seasons, then sure. A much better player in Aguero went for 40m after 3-4 good seasons.

Nick isn't wrong though about the price Costa might go for. Chelsea can easily pay 50m for him.

He is actually Mourinho's missing piece. I know he'd love that sort of striker.

When I first saw him, he was awful. 10m was right. This season he has been excellent. 30m is just about right

Might as well say he is 50m if he keeps this up ( not my estimation but the market ) for another season.

Costa was never bad. He shifted to another level this season like Ramsey did. Went from very good to world class. I would say he is worth around 35 million now. If he keeps this up he can and has a good World Cup he will be easily worth 50 in the summer.

50m!?!? Only last summer were people ridiculing Rodgers for chasing him.

£35m tops for him. He's already reached his ceiling and has only had one prolific season so far.

Suarez has been doing it consistently for years. Costa is as proven as Benteke. 25m max for me.

Agree with Gil. a few short months ago not a single person to my recollection thought Liverpool were sane for supposedly activating his release clause.

Don't rewrite the past..... he wasn't very good last season he was decent at best and that's being nice.

He's exploded this season it happens but don't change what the facts are... as for the Ramsey comparison Laughing

Pls Ramsey before injury was one of the best young players in the PL and better than Wilshere.... people that saw him then are not surprised by this Ramsey now he's got his physical and mental skills back.

Even Costa is surprised by this Costa Laughing

There's a reason his release clause was only raised slightly after the summer, no one saw this Costa coming.

costa been playing well even when falcao was there and he is beasting now, I agree that it doesn't look as fancy as suarez but he is scoring at an amazing rate and he is worth at least 50 mil if higs is worth that.

Not true mole, Costa has been very good since the beginning of the year, you can say that 2013 was his break out season. before that he was decent at rayo, but he truly exploded when Falcao left.

We jokingly say that he carried falcao for half a season, but it's true that he became a massive presence for them in attack.

He isn't scoring as prolifically as Suarez, he isn't assisting as much as Suarez, he doesn't influence matches as heavily as Suarez. He's playing brilliantly and he's scoring for fun, but he's not quite playing on Suarez's level this season.

Your very good and my very good are obviously quite different then....

He was very good in certain aspects like hassling defenders but in general i don't agree i do agree that's when his form started to rise.

But very good? nah not quite.

Higuain showed his goal scoring form for 5 years in a row though. Costa has his first great season at the age of 25. As much as I showed my dislike for Higuain, he is better than Costa.

Please. He was on level if not better than Falcao in the second half of the season. He was one of the best forwards in La Liga and he promptly received a Brazil call up. He flopped in those friendlies but that's another story.

I don't see what's so funny about the Ramsey comparision. He was one of Arsenal's best players last season but he took the step forward and became the main man this season. There is a difference being no one major left Arsenal and Ramsey filled his shoes like Costa did for Falcao.

If he was that productive for EPL than I could imagine his price tag in a range of 30m£ but La Liga, no never. I mean Costa has been noob stomping his way through minnows but we have yet to see him in bigger stage, what justifies his price tag exactly? Hes goal tally is not even impressive.

You're way off the mark here. He's arguably more influential than even Ibrahimovic when you're comparing the role he plays in Atletico's team. The work he puts in on a weekly basis is mind boggling.

Statistics aren't always everything. Darrent Bent and Defoe have scored more PL goals than Drogba.

Oh i dont think Costa is somekind of generation defining CF, i watch him, he is talented, but he is also a product of form; so you have to be careful about how you compare him to other guys who have been doing it for a while.

Doesnt even come close to Suarez despite his good goalscoring. Higuain is also a lot more proven, etc...

But his current form and recent explosion will make him worth that kind of money for clubs looking for a top CF. Exploding at a late age isnt a problem per say, drogba did it and turned into a fine player.

when you also factor in the availability of top CF next year, the price goes up again.

FYI this not what I think his value should but what his value will be based on the current market. Higuain, who was unwanted and ready to leave Madrid left for 40 million, Marquinhos left for 35 million after one season in the top flight, Soldado left for 30 million etc. Costa is easily worth 35 million in the current market.

Gil comparing Ibra and Costa, Laughing

Costa's level of influence is mandzukic like, it's his intensity and high energy level. Football wise, not even the same dimension. If he continues he can reach Cavani's level
