Also it's impossibly, absolutely impossible to measure how decisive player X has been for his team than players Y has been for his team. You could bring up statistic of how many goals/assists of their clubs total they contributed to, but it won't nearly show the overall contribution each player brings to their teams. For me this is where Suarez has been better than Costa. Outside of goals Costa brings fairly little else. You might have a different opinion. And this is where it's impossible, it's all subjective like Jibs said, so please don't force it down our throats as fact.

Costa is obviously very good at what he does, but people making claims along the lines of 'he has great technique' have got to be smoking some of the finest crystal meth on the market.

I'm still not sure if Costa is the striker that will help solve chelsea's issues next season. Chelsea dropped the most points against teams that parked and tried to halt their attack. If they had been more successful at opening those teams up they would have won the league. But Costa isn't the type of player that is going to make them any better at doing that, I don't think. Costa struggled to be effective when teams put a lot of men behind the ball, at least in the games I saw... But, I guess we'll see.

I don't believe Costa has a problem playing against deep defences, yes he struggled against Chelsea but who doesn't really? When you have big guys like Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cahill surrounding you in a deep defence there's not much you can do especially if you are getting targeted. Otherwise I've seen him play against other teams who played quite deep and he didn't struggle at all, he plays against such teams most of the time anyway and he regularly scores against them aswell.

Of course he does, in pound for pound value over last season. He has yet to play a single game in EPL so he will be judged on what he does in EPL later...better players than him have struggled in england.

As a n9 he is indeed better than rooney.

it's hard to know what RVP is worth now, he is so freaking injured all the time. Aguero whenever he returns just scores like he never left

But then again, Costa had the same exact stats as Negredo did in 2012-2013, where Negredo has 25 goals in 34 league games and 6 goals in CDR games (no CL for Sevilla). Costa had 27 goals in 35 La Liga games and 1 in CDR.

Will Costa become Negredo or Aguero? He's far closer to Negredo in terms of ability than he is to Aguero. Negredo couldn't adjust that defenders could push him around so much more in EPL than in La Liga. Since his game was predicated on being able to physically dominate the defenders, he had issues.

We'll see.

Only, Costa goals won many games for atletico, and he was great in CL.

Comparing apples to apples since Sevilla had no CL that season. Negredo won plenty of games for Sevilla. He scored 25 of their 58 league goals... highly dependent on his output. Atleti are more balanced than that Sevilla team. Just a better team. Negredo had to carry the scoring load pretty much alone.

Tbf living up to the Mourinho Drogba won't be that hard.

Never scored 15 PL goals with Mourinho, was only under Ancelotti he started to score at WC levels.

tbh even tho i hate to admit it, costa is likely gonna beast in the epl, he is tailor made for the league tbh, physical, thugish, has enough pace and technique, i just hope dem pundits don't start calling him the 3rd best player in the world when he feasts on scrubs Laughing

Funny how the same people who were wanking over Negredo last summer are now laughing at his mere mention now because he failed in England.

Not comparing him btw, just funny to see the sudden backtracking.

Wouldn't be surprised if Costa doesn't live up to expectations the same happens next summer.

I would not even call Negrito a failure considering his scintillating first-half of the season to which was marred by that debilitative injury which set a more difficult course or him in the latter half.

And Negrito for Sevilla final season was just as good as Costa for Atlético if not even better.

Costa won't need to play second fiddle to Augero or have Dzeko as competition. He'll have a long rope to work with... so his chances of doing better are greater. But as fas as Negredo in 2012-2013 compared to Costa 2013-2014... if you just look at La Liga and CDR AND you consider the quality of teammates, Negredo was more impressive.
