EPL - Officiating Index 2013-14
I figure we always say refs handed someone a victory (obviously people will disagree), but just so we can document the injustices for a season I figured it was worth starting a thread. So use this thread to post wrongs you witnessed in a particular match.
So far I have:
1. Neil Swarbrick, 8/25/13, Spurs vs. Swans. Ref managed to wrong 2 teams in the same game. Ref no called a blatant penalty by Shelvey in the box, and he then incorrectly gave Spurs a penalty due to an obvious dive by Townsend in the box.
2. Martin Atkinson, 9/14/13, Sunderland vs. Arsenal. Ref managed to disallow an obvious goal by Altidore, and then failed to give a red card to Sagna.

Martin Atkinson- By far the worst ref in the league. That decision to dissallow Altidore's goal today was one of the worse decisions I've ever seen.

United vs crystal palace
1. Wrong penalty decision leading to united win
Foul was committed outside the box
Linesman was not in the right position

Also, please stay on topic, I don't want any butt-hurt arguments in this thread. I literally just want it as an index (this obviously does not apply to any of the existing responses to day).
I think the best way to achieve this is to just list what happened, and not add your opinion as to what may or may not have happened in the game, in terms of outcome, had the injustice been called correctly.

People aren't going to agree on things, the arguments about "was it a penalty, was it not a penalty" ect are quite predictable. For example I don't think sagna should have been sent off. Also can't have it both ways, if a goal was allowed you can't take it back to give a red as well.

Where was this thread when Tottenham were winning penalties from Townsend and Defoe dives left, right and centre?

Oh like last season when Tottenham won so many pen... oh.Lex wrote:Where was this thread when Tottenham were winning penalties from Townsend and Defoe dives left, right and centre?
Or this season with the legit handling pen vs Crystal Palace?
Go, now. You realize your only case is Townsend against Swansea which was a dive...unfortunately for you that is made up by the fact that Townsend was actually fouled in the box earlier in the game and it wasn't called a PK
If you're going to complain about Tottenham, penalties aren't the subject you'll be able to do that in, you know that.

Someone just close this thread, it's blatantly obvious what the underlying agenda is....

Re: EPL - Officiating Index 2013-14
By the way, called it in chat that Lex would be the first one to "question" the thread.
I completely admit that I created the thread because of the Altidore incident, but as a gesture of goodwill I also listed the gift Tottenham received in the game against Swansea.
I also saved my opinion about the call for another thread.
So join the thread in a meaningful way or move along

Re: EPL - Officiating Index 2013-14
He was an absolute disgrace Atkinson yest
He also blew the whistle right on 94 mins.
Even though 3 mins of the 4 mins injury time was wasted wile a arsenal player had a sit down.

Re: EPL - Officiating Index 2013-14
Lol I still remember Sunderland equalizing against arsenal in 10/11 about 100998754322 minutes after stoppage time was over
The thing is with Atkinson, he blew the whistle while Sagna was holding altidore in a vice grip, he didn't see there was an advantage and then stop the game. He just couldn't help himself because the foul was so blatant, referees stop the game when they could have played an advantage loads of times

Re: EPL - Officiating Index 2013-14
Obviously biased Newcastle fan here but looked like to me that Altidore fouled Sagna in the build up tbh.
Anyway speaking of awful decisions.... how the ref didn't give us a penalty was unreal, didn't matter in the end but still was an absolutely horrific decision and Ben Arfa could have had another goal.

1. Chelsea vs. Cardiff - 10/19/13 Anthony Taylor - Crazy that premier league refs don't even know the rules. Heads up play by Eto'o even though it was completely illegal.
