Re: ManUtd in CRISIS!
After one match, you're already toeing that crisis line...RED wrote:We've been playing poorly for a long time tbh. It's just we could get away with it due to SAF's managing experties and the winning at all costs mentality he instilled to the players.
We don't have SAF's genius to fall back on atm....and to be honest, it's quite worrying just how overly cautious Moyes' approach is when it comes to the big games so far. we look bereft of ideas when it comes to creating chances and our general play is slow and predictable. That's the only concern for me atm. Our lack of creativity and his over reliance on Young.
Ofcourse Utd haters will grasp any opportunity to declare it a crisis, but it's far from it, considering the fixtures we've had in our opening 5 games.
We've got a good run of fixtures now up until Nov 10th when we play Arsenal at home. Anything less than atleast 12 points leading up to that game, then people will have the right to call it a "crisis" or whatever.
(I'm sorry. I just couldn't resist adding the picture.)

Re: ManUtd in CRISIS!
awful, just awful...
i think the board will be sweating over Moyes appointment, he and the team look lost and clueless.
Cant honestly see him lasting the season, but he should not of been given the job in the first place. Its Liverpool & Hodgson Part II

Should have gone after Hynckes but I guess they were looking at the future. He still needs time tbh. Fans need to be patient with him.

Re: ManUtd in CRISIS!
Gotta say it's a damn beautiful sight to see Man United in the bottom half of the table.
Anyway, Moyes inherited a "difficult" squad and his biggest failure so far was that he didn't do much anything to it in the summer.
Garrick, Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, (Giggs), these are all players in their thirties already. I'm sure SAF squeezed everything out of them in his last season. Hard to say if they're as motivated under Moyes and at some point age-related decline will take its toll, too.
Some players like Anderson, Young, Cleverley and Welbeck are more about complimenting their better team-mates than being game-changers themselves.
They have three star performers in Rooney, RVP and De Gea and Nani, Valencia, Rafael are very fine players, but that still leaves something missing because they overlap each others roles quite a bit. Kagawa and Fellaini are question marks in regards to United's current form, they might lift them or they might not.
The bottom line is that Moyes needed to do more business in the summer to lessen the reliance on the old guard while he also should have gotten rid of a couple of bit-part players (Anderson, Young) and replace them with more solid performers. At the moment it looks like Moyes has no idea what his best XI is or how to rotate players successfully, which players he can count on to perform.
Long may it last.

Re: ManUtd in CRISIS!
"Crisis" is more a media buzzword. In order to answer the question properly one has to define what "crisis" really means here. But definitely they're not playing their best right now.
My stance all along has been that Fergie's departure as manager (even if he hasn't fully, technically left the club) has put a big, pessimistic question mark over Man Utd.
This doesn't mean that I thought they'd do poorly, necessarily. I just thought that if there was a time in recent memory when Man Utd were most vulnerable, this is it. They didn't strengthen their squad very well over the summer. Moyes did a really good job for years with limited funds at Everton but he has no track record managing a bigger club. There are still some nagging doubts about the midfield.
At this stage I still expect Man Utd to rally and do pretty well overall. IMO it's more a question of whether Moyes will be the one to spearhead the rally, or if he'll be sacked along the way and someone else will come in to do the job.

They are having a tough time ... but as much as I would like to believe they are in crisis, they are unfortunately not. They are Man United, they always seem to pull through.

Re: ManUtd in CRISIS!
I said United would finish outside the top 4, still stand by that, the surprise is that City could join them there
With Liverpool lacking creativity without Coutinho I wonder who will the 4th team will be behind Spurs, Arsenal, and Chelsea?

Re: ManUtd in CRISIS!
don't know why but I found it hilarious when it showed fellaini warming up on the touchline lol
I stand by my posts earlier in this thread. I haven't predicted them failing before, its just this season that they seem especially weak to me, and I get the impression some people defend them simply out of it being "the same old story, people predicting utds downfall only to be proven wrong again", without really looking at where they are at right now.

Re: ManUtd in CRISIS!
as bad as that West Brom performance was, we have dropped points to Liverpool away without Rooney and City away without RVP....both could of changed the outcomes but these are just small grains of salt to take away from a tough start
midfield is still our biggest problem, no creativity, no penetration through the middle aside from Rooney

They need to spend (and wisely) in winter window. All that the points table (that too after just six games) shows, is that this year it will be close. Don't count them out of title race.

Re: ManUtd in CRISIS!
This is not fair arsenal lost one match and it was a crisis, whereas a club like united loose three matches and no one wants to call it a crisis situation.

That's what you are saying but still the media isn't picking up the story yet. They are not calling for Moyes to leave and not putting enough pressure on united.zigra wrote:They are beyond crisis. Re: ManUtd in CRISIS!
Trust me, every back page in the newspaper in England is criticizing United and Moyes. They are enjoying seeing him and the team struggling atm.boyzis wrote:That's what you are saying but still the media isn't picking up the story yet. Re: ManUtd in CRISIS!
Actually, he isn't. Since the Swindon match, he has played 2 and half straight games(the half being coming on as a sub against Spurs for 45 mins), and he's going to start again on Sunday against Norwich. Nice try though No idea how that even relates to my initial post but okay
