Easy, smooth and efficient. Should have had an assist or two to go with his 2 goals.

Just goes to show you how goals 2 and 3 can be very important in games.

Has scored 40 goals in 67 CL appearances now. Only behind Ronaldo (70), Messi (69) and Ibra (41) in CL scorers that are actively playing. 14th all time. His 0.6 ratio is 14th as well all time.

Forgot that Drogba is still "active" He'll pass both Ibra and Drogba this season anyhow.

indeed a couple of his passes were a little off on the counter but he made more great passes than bad ones today imo and yeah that header was perfect big game Benz.

So his efficiency on his shots is 35% (insane)
His efficiency on his shots on target is 64% (outrageous)
goal or assist every 76 mins (great)

Now, he can't keep these stats up because he gets few touches per game (around 25 on average) and only 2,3 shots per game. Unless these go up, his productivity will drop. The elite strikers typically have 20-25% efficiency on their shots and i expect that's where Benz will end up.

HOWEVER, if Carl plays him in this quasi 10 role, i think his touches go up and his assist/key pass/passing stats go way up.

is it a coincidence when that scrub bale stopped playing benzema got more touches and more chances??? I don't think so.

Madrid did actually look like a competent possession team for once. The ball was shared well between everyone and was used efficiently.

He's better than Lewandowski... and by quite a bit tbh.  He scores more, assists more, is more efficient AND he manages to do it while being primarily a playmaker as opposed to a scorer (CR7 and Bale are the primaries).

Benzema is not better than Lewandowski. Also what is this scores and assists more?

Last year Lewy had 26 goals and 8 assists in 42 games (CL and League) and Benz had 22 goals and 14 assists in 46 games (CL and League).

The year before Lewy had 34 goals and 7 assists in 44 games (CL and League) and Benz had 16 goals and 15 assists in 40 games (CL and League).

Last year:

Lewandowski had 28 goals and 15 assists in 48 games.
Benzema had 24 goals and 16 assists in 52 games.

The year before:

Lewandowski had 36 goals and 13 assists in 49 games.
Benzema had 21 goals and 21 assists in 50 games.

. You can't only look at the stats. Both are great but Benzema is better imo.

Anyway, Benzema is a good supplementary player but Lewandowski is the type of player that can lead a team. Maybe skillwise they are close, but I would prefer to have a Lewy over a Benzema every time.

Wonder why Lewa isn't leading Bayern these days Xabi will probably score as many goals as him come the end of the season

lewy performance > benz imo

but almost all top team got 2 or 3 lewy type of players, not all of them got a benzema.

It's a two-edged matter. He could look better because he would see a lot more of the ball, but at the same time he could be worse because Ronaldo gives him so much space by dragging defenders.

imo, Karim can't be the focal point of the team because of his mentality. he doesn't strike me as the guy who could take all the pressure on his shoulders.
