Re: Karim Benzema
Pogba has only been able to start 2 games for NT due to suspensions + injury. Same for Varane.
Matuidi is suspended.
Cabaye has either been injured or on strike
Kondogbia has 1 NT start and was supposed to start this one... but got injured. Capoue is injured. Mavuba is injured.
Guilavogui has 2 NT starts and is... how do i say it... not NT level right now. Forced into duty. Moussa Sissoko is one those guys that seems to look good; but then you realize he's pretty ineffective because of his bad technique. Has no business on NT now.
So basically, Benz has been playing with a midfield of 2 DMs behind him, Valbuena who plays a AM without any scoring runs or ability and fullbacks who are challenged on the attack (Evra and Sagna).
What happens is you have Ribery surrounded and Benz/Giroud going against 4 defenders at a time... while the DMs and fullbacks just stand there and watch.
This will never, ever work.
Imagine Stoke City tactics with Benzema as the CF... that's what's happening. It'll never work. Either DD has to get his player choices right for his Stoke City tactics OR he has to change his tactics, again change some players and then go at it.
If DD is going to stay with his 2 DM, fullbacks who are offensively poor and Ribery/Valbuena... he needs thug CFs who will fight it out while being outnumbered badly. Might as well go Giroud/Gignac and hoof it in there.
There's a reason Benz is productive at Madrid and not at NT anymore. When he was scoring for NT, he had Diaby in the mid, Ribery on one side... and Remy stretching the defense with his speed on the other. Since Remy and Diaby have been perma-injured, it has screwed everything up.
Pogba will do a world of good. Oh and Grenier was injured too this game and he was supposed to be a CM.
Normal starting XI:
Lloris
Sagna-Varane-Koscielny-Evra
Pogba-Grenier-Matuidi
Valbuena-Benzema-Ribery
Last night's XI:
Lloris
Sagna-Koscielny-Abidal-Evra
Valbuena-Guilavogui-Sissoko-Ribery
Benzema-Giroud
Difference is you have 4 guys who know that they are doing on the attack + Pogba/Matuidi who are great support.... while last night you had 4 guys and no support whatsoever. Guilavogui and Sissoko had several open shots from just outside the box and missed by over 10 meters all the time... even Cabaye would have made a world of difference. He would have scored one of the 5 open shots from that distance.
The midfield for France has been atrocious for a long while now. No creativity.
The striking force also has been bad because there's no pace... you need pace somewhere, even if it comes from the fullbacks.

Re: Karim Benzema
HM2... Ibra and CR7 are used to having teams built around them. Benz does not. Also, Blanc built his team and tactics around Benz and he got them to the Euro while carrying the scoring load during qualifying (he had 3 goals and 2 assists in the 7 Euro 2012 qualifying games... also 4 goals and 3 assists in 11 friendlies during that time).
Euro came and Diaby went down that February. Diarra/M'Villa/Cabaye mid + Nasri-fail and we all know what happened there.
Since DD has taken over, the tactics are built around Ribery/Valbuena. But Ribery has to be in god mode for it to work because the rest of the pitch is badly balanced.
Personally, i think DD is a shatty manager. Don't know what happened to him. He was horrible his last year at OM and he's kept that going at NT.... so freakin stubborn. For example, he chose Cheyrou over Hatem Ben Arfa at OM . Also benched Gignac for Brandao even when Remy was injured

Re: Karim Benzema
Yeah... With Benz not playing, the CFs really did well for France. 1 shot total and not even on goal lol. Ribery saved France all on his own. The CFs get zero service, so it doesn't matter who plays.
As always, you guys are clueless. But then how is that surprising?

I say we wait a bit more time before judging Giroud and not judge him after 1-2 games, especially since you've been doing the same with Benz for the last 20 games.

Re: Karim Benzema
He has been the best striker for Madrid (better than CR7) in the first 3 La Liga games and, yet, because some have decided to turn on a player, they'd rather stick to their guns that "Benz is shat" rather than admit that he's playing well for Madrid right now.
Everyone here is agenda driven lol.
For me, i will unashamedly support French players and i have stylistic preferences in terms of players. But i stick to my guns, good or bad. I'll admit to a mistake, like i have with CR7 regarding his big game performances OR Di Maria that i find quite good right now.
But for most, it's either blind love or blind hate lol.

Bernabeu asks for Morata and applauds as Benzema is substituted
Di Maria: "The whistling against Benzema were in bad taste. Morata also missed and no one whistled at him."

Re: Karim Benzema
A bit disgusting tbh, you look at those missed and it's obvious he is feeling down my how much the crowd is booing him. He is lacking confidence. He played fantastic in CL midweek and for that at least he deserves more encouragement. Summer is past, and players need to be supported till next summer at least.
All that is a bit funny when you consider that he has been more important than CR so far this season. oh well...

Re: Karim Benzema
As always, small section of the crowd. I've been extremely impressed with the crowd's attitude so far this season, they've been making more noise than in recent memory. They even gave him a standing ovation upon leaving the pitch.
As for Benzema, you see Ronaldo on one wing, Di Maria on the other and him standing in the box and it's only really going to go one way. Midweek Ronaldo was pushed forward and he was pushed back ; We run our play through the least intelligent player on the pitch; the most intelligent can't get a touch.
The results were fairly obvious.

Re: Karim Benzema
Please. We should run our play through a player who turned up only one season from 3 when everybody was in the form of their lives. We should not run our play through a player who has scored ~56 goals/season in the last 3 seasons and turned up when everyone was shit.Le Samourai wrote:As always, small section of the crowd. The least intelligent player on the team ? Benzema's football IQ is lower than Ronaldo's ffs.

Flo needs to do something about the booing, Carlo is trying and you can see the rest of the team feels sorry for him, its the home crowd ffs doesn't matter how thick your skin is, players need support from the home fans, booing every miss touch or bad pass or miss is gonna throw players off, if it was one game no problem but every home game is going overboard
