Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
Ozil barely just fits Iniesta's position, so can't see it happening.

Ozil would be more lost in barcelona than cesc lmao, cant play in a 3 man midfield and he has terrible work rate. stop dreaming.

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
I love how apparently nobody's marginally better or worse than anyone at anything. Nobody's ever "decent" or "good" at aspects of football. Only huge gulfs. It's always, "Özil is way, way, way better than Isco, no contest," or "Özil is a totally weak-willed punk, just can't even begin to compare" ... etc. Same variant on the structure of Internet forum discussion where there's no such thing as a player somewhere in-between "WC" and "shit."
Sure, Real Madrid lost a great player. And if I were in charge at RM (hehe) I wouldn't have bought Bale, and would have held onto Özil. By any respectable measure he's one of the best and most creative AMs in the world. But it's not like RM are lacking in firepower. Regardless of who's better at what, Isco vs Özil, Madrid have still got a helluva good player on their hands at AM. He's young, Spanish, and just going to get better. And a lot of other players at RM who are no slouches. Letting go of Özil, and for as much money as they got, it's not going to derail their system hugely. Not with their other signings who've come in and will do more than fine.
In the end I think this will be more of a success for Arsenal & Özil than a mistake by RM. We'll see.

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
Cadena SER reports that Madrid was set on letting Di Maria go but it's Carlo who decided it was Ozil that would be sold. He liked Di Maria better for his team.

One thing people surprisingly haven't mentioned is the fact Bale will annihilate Barcelona on the counter if they don't adjust their tactics. They man is simply unstoppable in transition and that's no exaggeration.

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
Ozil is almost 25 and he wont be leaving next year so earliest time he can go is when he's about to turn 27 year's old.No one in history would bid a 27-year old non-scoring attacking midfielder who has 1/5 the stamina of the average football player anywhere near 90m.Get your head out of your ass.

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
While that may be true he also has a torrid time with his stamina. He is in great shape but still has a very tough time completing 90mins in a game.aleumdance wrote:AM's, especially good ones last long...vivabarca38 wrote:Ozil is almost 25 and he wont be leaving next year so earliest time he can go is when he's about to turn 27 year's old.No one in history would bid a 27-year old non-scoring attacking midfielder who has 1/5 the stamina of the average football player anywhere near 90m.Get your head out of your ass.

58 - No player has been more subbed than Mesut Özil in La Liga since he signed for Real Madrid (Muniain, 50).

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
Spanish newspaper AS reported Ronaldo as telling his Portugal team-mates:
“The sale of Ozil is very bad news for me.
“He was the player who best knew my moves in front of goal... I'm angry about Özil leaving.”

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
I think Perez is very good with money management. He bought Bale at such a high price but u see he made sells in very high prices too. Higuain, Ozil, Albiol, Callejon, etc. More than covered the Bale fee...
More importantly though, it depends on Ancelotti obviously not playing a game with Ozil in mind. I dont agree with it, but business wise from that it makes sense for Perez.

Ronaldo frustrated by Ozil's sale
Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told some team-mates he is frustrated by Mesut Ozil's move to Arsenal, saying: "Ozil's exit is the worst news for me. He was the player who best knows my movements to goal."

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
Yeah, it would seem Ozil was well liked and made a good bit of friends among the team. Not gonna lie, I would have been upset as well.
As for the OP, it made sense and at the same time, it is considered a big loss to the team on whole. I think most of the RM fans here covered basically all that is needed though MT is clearly hurt by this sale. Poor guy/girl/bot...

ITs clear Ozil was key and gave tons of assists to Ronaldo. I hope Ronaldo will suffer now XD

Ozil is the best attacking midfielder in the world. Bale was a business signing not a football one IMO.

Bale isn't marketable currently anyway. The club just hope he will be. We need a president who cares more about football than business.

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
Bale is British... that alone makes him a highly marketable prospect. Add this with the fact that he is highly talented , will score you goals. I can see him being a hit (at least from business standpoint).Yohan Modric wrote:Bale isn't marketable currently anyway. The club just hope he will be. Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
Bale is just the average guy. Does nothing outside of football and isn't really popular like Beckham/Ronaldo. However I think that's a good thing, that's how footballers should be. They should be footballers, not celebrities.
It's not really guaranteed he's going to succeed anyway, since he won't be the main guy like he was at Spurs.

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
^Being a footballer is actually being a celebrity, whether the players like it or not.
But going by what you're trying to say, what's wrong with being a footballer AND a celebrity? It has never been detrimental to a player's match performances, has it?
