Ozil was the 2nd best attacker at the club and I think Ancelotti should have thought about him when thinking of a formation. He's arguably the best AM in the World. The team could have been built around him.

Signing Bale was unnecessary.

I dont understand why they would sell one of their most creative players, just to get a one dimensional player, who doesnt fit in their current system. Back to counter attacking, just for Bale? Or use him for about 40% of his abilities in a possesion based system..... Money well spend.

Well, is he that good as Arsenal fans now say? Di Maria is better on the wing and ISco is a better AM. Also Modric can be AM.

So I would say it did make sense. Especially with that price. Prices are ridiculous atm. Ozil for three times more than Strootman cost - no way he three times better. Maybe not the best comparison, but you get the picture. The obsession with AMs is just plain stupid.

I don't know which one is bigger mistake Buying bale for 100M or selling their most creative player to accommodate bale who even doesn't fit their current system.

3- Ozil asking for a pay rise

4- Di Maria working his arse off and impresssing

5- Ozil recouping half of Bale's money

In the end as much as I didn't want Bale till next season, selling Ozil probably did make sense.

If Ronaldo gets pampered and gets what he wants, so should Ozil. He was one of the best players at the club.

Ronaldo was complaining as well about 'being sad' etc.

You could never complain about CR7's effort on the pitch... he produced and played hard every game. Ozil, as much as i love him, has been inconsistent the past 2 years and had stamina issues.

CR7 may demand superstar treatment. But fact is.... he plays like a superstar so you put up with his bs. Ozil is nowhere near CR7's level.

And yes, Isco is just as talented and just as good if not better at AM... but to boot, he's in better physical condition and can also play CM without a problem. Defends well too.

So if it was a choice between Isco and Ozil, then Isco all day long.

But this was more about Bale v Ozil and that choice... i'm not convinced and won't be until Bale proves himself on the pitch.

Ronaldo apparently wasn't listening to Mourinho when he told him how to improve his game tactically. Apparently it was about not tracking back. Similar to Ozil's current problem I guess.

In terms of who's the better player, well unfortunately goalscorers will always be rated higher than playmakers. So Ronaldo is better.

However Ozil's arguably the best AM in the World. He created the most chances/assists out of anyone in the past 3 years.

I don't think it was... It would then have been Di Maria who left...
I think it was actually a Di Maria/Ozil trade-off.
Having both as back-ups would've been difficult...
And Di Maria is way more versatile with a far better work rate.
Bale's arrival shook things up, but before he arrived, Ozil was already not starting and we coped just fine against a good Athletic team without him.
