Re: Official Rage Fest Thread
I don't think Ozil does well with criticism, constructive or otherwise. He also didn't feel like RW was his best spot.
The sense i got is that he wanted to be treated like a superstar and Carlo isn't into that at all. I mean, he even yelled at Ibra last year, which made me worry about his health
But Ibra ended up having mad respect for him or it.

Re: Official Rage Fest Thread
A bit of an overeaction. We survived without Mesut over the weekend.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm sad he's gone, but Isco is clearly playing better, he's younger and scores goals. Modric is everything as creative as Ozil is, just from a more withdrawn position. And, frankly, Ozil's work rate is poor
Ozil would otherwise be spending quite a lot of time on the bench... at least he will play now...
Our team is still amazing without him.
I'm not gonna make any predictions for the team, but Isco clearly is our future.
Now, I'll be happy watching Ozil at Arsenal, where he WILL thrive...

Re: Official Rage Fest Thread
I'll put in this caveat... over the past 2 years, Ozil has shown no signs to adapting to anything but playing a very advance AM or 10. With Bale, we will likely have someone who fits a whole lot better in the role that Carlo wants for the position on the right.
Talent is better for Ozil. But is he a good fit for this Madrid? I don't know. I have my doubts. I have doubts about Bale too... but at least he may surprise me. Ozil is what he is.

Re: Official Rage Fest Thread
You guys do know its Isco that replaced Ozil and not Bale right?
Bale is Di Maria's replacement.
Isco and Ozil was never going to work together with Ronaldo in the team. It was always going to be one or the other.
Unless of course Ronaldo was willing to play CF.

Re: Official Rage Fest Thread
Have to admit Perez has the balls to take tough decisions. I think selling Ozil is a novelty. Not necessarily a bad decision. I don't think it is money, why we sold him. It is Ozil himself. He is not a CR7 to dictate where he plays. Unfortunately it seems in Ancelloti's 11 & style - He doesn't fit.
I am more than happy with the transfer window - more spanish talent in , surplus sold and an over rated player sold. I wish we had bought Suarez for Benz. May be in next window

This, the moment Isco came it was obvious Ozil would feel threatened, he wanted to be the center of Carlos plan not a side kick.sportsczy wrote:I don't think Ozil does well with criticism, constructive or otherwise. He also didn't feel like RW was his best spot.

I think Ozil made the right choice leaving us, there's every chance he would've lost his spot to Goetze in Germany NT had he stayed.

Re: Official Rage Fest Thread
Isco and Ozil don't even play the same position so could people stop using the isco signing as some sort of a catalyst for Ozils departure
Bale signing wasn't either as he hasn't even come to play RAM but to play RF. Ozil didn't want to stay because he didn't feel the support from the upper management after they rejected his wage bumper demand and because he didn't want to adapt to an unusual role for him which forced Carlo to take him out twice and on the bench for a whole game in the third.
he just didn't want to play rotation game with DiMaria with this being a WC year and all. Argentina's coach gave DiMaria the vote of confidence even if he ended up as a back up something Ozil couldn't afford with the host of talent currently competing for a starting spot in the germany team. he already saw what that did to higgy and benz

Isco and Ozil both are central players, they like to occupy the center of pitch while having the freedom to drift to wide areas. non of them would've been happy with being forced to stay wide.

Re: Official Rage Fest Thread
Enough with the "can play there"
We have a lot of players who can play in different positions but they don't for a certain reason.
We try to play players where we know they are the best at. Coentrao doesn't play DM, Pepe doesn't play DM, Ronaldo doesn't play as ST, Di Maria doesn't play CAM.
That's just a few examples. Only times certain players play in different positions is because the situation asks for it and there aren't any alternatives.

Isco's actually started games at LW/LM for both Malaga and Spain. He's also been at RW for Spain during games.
If we knew Isco was best centrally then why did we get him with Ozil already here?

L/R AM is exactly that. they drift in from both sides and playmake from therePedram wrote:Isco and Ozil both are central players, they like to occupy the center of pitch while having the freedom to drift to wide areas. non of them would've been happy with being forced to stay wide.
they arent wingers so nobody has forced them to hug the touchline. isco seems to have understood this while ozil didn't. again nothing to do with isco signing

We've been trying to replace Özil at the center since we bought Modric. Stop acting so surprised, Özil lost his place in the central becouse he didn't work hard for it. If he wanted it he should have tracked backYohan Modric wrote:Isco's actually started games at LW/LM for both Malaga and Spain. He's also been at RW for Spain during games.

Re: Official Rage Fest Thread
Ozil, for all his talent, lack mental fortitude and that "it" factor.
Let me give you an example of how great players are made... Zidane went you Juve at the age of 25 and they made him a DM. He fought and proved that he belonged at CM. He could have left immediately and then he wouldn't be the player that he became.
R9 left Brazil for Eindhoven in Europe when he was a phenom in Brazil. Everyone had told him to stay in Brazil because countless Brazilian players before him had to come Europe too young and failed. He took the challenge with a lesser team because they played in European competitions where he could show himself against the best. He took the challenge. The rest is history.
Pirlo in 2011 stayed in Milan despite Allegri saying he had no place in his tactics. He tried to prove that he was still a great player and refused to get sold. Allegri didn't give him a chance... but Pirlo left with his head held high and fought like a champ. He went to Juve and the rest is history.
It's not when things are going great that you get to define yourself... it's when you face challenges. Now i hope Ozil does well because i love his talent. But his comment about "the manager not trusting me" when he'd started every game but 1 and was just getting to know Carlo... well, i question his mental fortitude.
I hated the sale last night. But now, i think that Carlo/Zidane may have not liked his mental makeup.

maybe i'm being a little harsh on Ozil.... he has to do what he feels is right for him. He was a good guy while at the club.
But now i cannot blame this move on Flo and that pisses me off the most

We don't have a 10 role in Madrid right now, as Crimson mentioned. He would have to adapt to something else and he doesn't want to obviously.
A shame. But it is what it is.

Be mad at Özil more than Flo anyhow. Madrid aren't known for blocking players from moving if they want out.
Özil got what he wanted. Keeping Özil would be against our policy.

Re: Official Rage Fest Thread
will ancelotti see out his contract?
because if this 'system' keeps producing these types of performances. he could be gone by the end of his second season, if not this one.
this isnt a knee jerk but a valid question and argument.
the supporters will turn on him so quickly. plus selling a favourite like ozil, albeit perez's decision, does not make things better.
it was evident today that a playmaker was missing. i dont know if we can find one..
