Celtic
Celtic Football Club
Despite what it says on our badge Celtic were actually founded in 1887, on the 6th of November. Celtic were founded as a charity type organisation to help alleviate poverty in the East End of Glasgow which mainly consisted of Irish immigrants at the time and even to this day Celtic boast a large support from people of Irish heritage. Celtic were given the nickname of "The Bhoys" when they were founded, this name as stuck with them throughout our history. Celtic's first ever game was a "friendly" against Rangers, in which they won 5-2. Without doubt Celtic's greatest ever achievement was winning the European Cup in 1967 when they beat Internazionale 2-1, with a team purely consisting of players from Glasgow. During the Jock Stein era Celtic became the first Scottish club to ever win 9 consecutive titles and also reached another European Cup final, where they were beaten by Feyenoord. Last season was Celtic's 125th season, which they celebrated by reaching the last 16 of the Champions League, this run included a memorable victory over Barcelona. Celtic's biggest rivals were Rangers (RIP) who went bust in 2012 and were put in to Scotland's lowest division as a new club, Celtic's biggest rivals are now Hearts.

I might be biased here but for me there is nothing to beat a European night at Celtic Park, the fans drive the players on to results that seem pretty much improbable when you compare both line ups. Our ultra group are the Green Brigade who are responsible for some fantastic displays and give the team their backing for 90 minutes every week. An example of one of their displays is the picture below against Barcelona. Recently there has been some conflict between the club and the GB surrounding issues of lateral movement and pyro.

Re: Celtic
Our biggest game of the season will take place on Wednesday against Shakhtar Karagandy at Celtic Park. We currently trail 2-0 after an abysmal showing in Kazakhstan, this was a result of negligence from our board with lack of signings after losing 3 of our best players from last season in Wanyama, Hooper and Wilson. We have been poor for a few weeks now so it's no real surprise, Lennon has to shoulder a lot of the blame as well.
Apparently we are close to signing Pukki as well.

Well, I hope Fraser Forster will be able to convince again just as he did last season. I was pretty impressed with the performances I saw of him.

Re: Celtic
He has been very poor in recent weeks, making a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes. Hopefully he can get back to his best. If we make it on Wednesday, we will need him back to his best for the group stages.rwo power wrote:Well, I hope Fraser Forster will be able to convince again just as he did last season. Re: Celtic
Oh, that's regrettable to hear. I have to admit I mainly saw the CL matches of Celtic last year, and there he looked pretty good. I actually thought he might become an option for the English NT in due time. But then, from what I gathered, the current time doesn't seem to be so favourable for English keepers in general, as I heard that Joe Hart didn't exactly convince in the last matches either.
Well, I shall keep my fingers crossed that Forster will recover from his dip in form in time, that is, hopefully for the CL qualifier. ^^

Don't just copy-paste from Wiki. We prefer the insights and emotions of people who are attached with the club. That what makes this forum so vibrant and informative.

All I done was add the squad to save me typing it out, I go to every league game home and away, if you want more info I'd be more than happy to let you know.iftikhar wrote:Don't just copy-paste from Wiki. Re: Celtic
What about some info about the club, some history, rivalries etc or what you find interesting? E.g. you could look at my home club here to get a little inspired? http://www.goallegacy.net/t23960-rot-weiss-oberhausenTenMenWonTheLeague wrote:I changed it, anything else I should change or add?

:-). Suppose we aren't in this forum but at a pub (or some other place). How would you discuss and prresent your club! Make it random and personal.TenMenWonTheLeague wrote:I changed it, anything else I should change or add?
Say, you don't like a player. Bash him. But give the reasons as well. You may take a crash course from Sepi but I would recommend to implement only 1/10 of what you learn. Art and Arq would be more practical IMO.

Re: Celtic
Cool! Thanks! Stuff like that is usually very interesting for people who haven't taken much interest in the club before, especially if it is written by someone close to the club.

Celtic Tactical Analysis
For me this is our strongest line up
However for a number of reasons we haven't played it yet;
1. Injuries have prevented this from happening.
2. Lennon has 2 blind spots, continually playing James Forrest, who isn't that good and Charlie Mulgrew in midfield which is just plain daft, he is too slow on the ball to be a midfielder and is one of our best centre backs so why he continues to get played there is beyond me.
This formation would suit us for a number of reasons as our full backs are very good going forward, whether it be Lustig or Matthews in the right or Izzy at left back. On a side note right back is the only position in the squad where we have a quality starter and a quality back up. Another reason it would be effective is it allows Samaras to cut in and when he cuts in he can be devastatingly good.
Ideally, we will get in a more mobile attacking midfielder than Commons and a better striker than Stokes, we had one in Hooper but sold him and criminally still haven't replaced him.

Re: Celtic
The day of the big game. By far our biggest game of the season. I'm hopeful rather than confident that we will go through.
Boerrigter is fit which is a huge boost.

Congrats! Looks like you got Teemu Pukki, who was a massive fan favourite at Schalke, but unfortunately just couldn't break through to the first team there.

Good win today. A great free kick from Stokes won it late on.
Pukki signed today. Biton signed yesterday. And Buttner looks like signing in loan today.

We have ended the window weaker than we started which is disappointing however Van Dijk looks very promising.
