To be fair Assou-Ekotto isn't that bad, he was arguably one of our MVP's 2 seasons ago, but was just plagued with injury last season and never really fit in with what AVB was shooting for in terms of tactics.

I think it could be a fairly even trade, but I think Spurs just want Balza because it gives us quality cover for a season so we can get whoever we really want at the LB position in the Winter transfer window or wait until next summer.

Agreed. Still think Tottenham should go in for Coentrao. Danny Rose is hardly any better IMO. Even if his wage demands are high, he's worth it. Tottenham are clearing out as many "high earners" as they are bringing in tbh.
