Your Favourite Games of this Generation
With only really GTA V left as the last big game of this generation i thought it would be a good time to discuss our favourite games of this generation.
Red Dead Redemption
Mass Effect 2
Bioshock
Assassins Creed 2
Witcher 2
Gears of War 2
Gears of War 3
Batman Arkham Asylum
Batman Arkham City
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
I will eventually put all these games into an order and explain why i enjoyed them so much but for now this is my list of 10.
I enjoyed many more like GTA 4, Far Cry 3, Assassins Creed 3, Borderlands 2, Mafia 2, Alan Wake etc etc.
I also tried as hard as possible to avoid any Sports or Multiplayer FPS where possible which is why you don't see the likes of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, CoD 4, MW2, Fifa 11/12 etc etc.
Also in the midst of playing Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider atm. Once i complete those, before i buy a PS4 i plan to finish of Last Of Us, MGS4, GOW 3, Infamous 1 and 2, Uncharted trilogy among other PS3 games i have bought but not completed or hardly touched yet.
So the list may grow larger, so expect either an updated an OP or a seperate post with much greater detail and explanation behind my choices.

Re: Your Favourite Games of this Generation
Avoiding the games you mentioned like Cod and FIFA, here's a list in no order whatsoever
Resident evil 6
Uncharted 1,2 & 3
God Of War 3
Heavy Rain
Heavenly Sword
TLOU
There's a pretty strict list
Which i'm happy with. Until I remember 1 or 2 games i'm most likely forgetting.

Re: Your Favourite Games of this Generation
I've played hundreds of games this gen..but gun to my head, my top 10;
Dark Souls
Bioshock Infinite
Journey
Red Dead Redemption ( really hoping for a next gen installment)
Uncharted 2 ( just finished this recently, absolutely incredible )
Assassins Creed 2
Fallout 3
TES Oblivion (I think Skyrim's world is better, but when I first played Oblivion I thought it was epic as fuark, dem memories)
Mirrors Edge
Prince of Persia 2008
I have Uncharted 3, The Last of Us and Demons Souls to play before GTA 5 and wrapping up this gen. I feel like at least three of those will make my top 10.
Also, that reminds me..I really need to start Bioshock 1 and 2. Picked up the double boxset the other day.

Re: Your Favourite Games of this Generation
I was about to say, there seems to be a real lack of Skyrim here.
For me:
Red Dead Redemption
Skyrim
GTA San Andreas
Borderlands
Witcher 2
+ most sports and racing games.

Re: Your Favourite Games of this Generation
You can include sports and MP FPS if you like i just chose not to, i know some people only play those types of games so it would be unfair to enforce a thread rule () that you can't choose them.
FYI i don't like Skyrim, Obvlivion or Fallout before anyone starts

Re: Your Favourite Games of this Generation
Personally I wouldn't bother adding sports games
They're completely different for me, and there are yearly releases.
Wouldn't bother adding the online FPS type games, because there is always a new COD and the thread could end up being a COD for COD or COD/BF comparison.

The Concept was fun, the actual gameplay got boring after a few hours.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Tomwin Lannister wrote:Also, I never could get into AC 2.

Yeah the things I didn't like about AC 2 (Not saying they were all bad choices, it's the way they wanted the game to be. But personally I didn't like)
Having to go to a viewpoint to update your mini-map, pisses me off
Combat. Meh
The fact you can jump 250 ft into a small stack of hay on a cart and the cart's fine, you're fine and it supposedly hides you from enemies
Because it's not in 'real time' it skips parts and as a result I couldn't really get connected to the characters. Your entire family get hanged infront of you and you just don't care
Imagine just 1 main character from big games dying. It has a massive fall-out.
Because you only really see a couple of 'interiors' and there's nothing to do outside of the norm, it's just you constantly booting around buildings. Doesn't appeal to me.
Just didn't like it that much, I got bored easily. And I don't have a massively short attention span, I can suffer if I need to.

Re: Your Favourite Games of this Generation
Its fair Tom, i get ya.
I could never get into Fallout or Skyrim either, i tried believe me but i just couldn't do it.
Just one of those things i suppose.
I think i prefer more story driven RPGs than exploring ones with massive world anyway.
Would explain why Mass Effect 1 and 2 were my favourite RPGs by a mile this generation until i played Witcher 2.

Re: Your Favourite Games of this Generation
Yeah I understand why people don't like them. Love 'em myself. And can't wait to get a hold of Elder scrolls online on ps4 with a few mates.
I never played fallout 3 and the other one. (New Vegas I think)
I'd probably enjoy them, but I just never got around to buying them. And even though the game itsself is apparantly great, I hate being in an environment that looks like a pure wasteland with no escape.
I mean, Uncharteds environments are fkn stunning and I love 'em. But being surrounded by abandoned buildings is boring, even if it looks mega realistic.

Can you be a bit more specific with what this "generation" is? Are you referring to the consoles or a period of time?

I don't really like many games that don't have multiplayer.
However Red Dead Redemption did and the free roam was good.
MW2 was probably the best MW.

Re: Your Favourite Games of this Generation
Since Nov. 2005??!! That list is way too long, we're talking about Oblivion era and beyond.... But if I had to pick absolute favorites...
Journey
League of Legends
Minecraft
Aion
Bastion
BioShock
Mass Effect 1
The Orange Box
SC2: Wings of Liberty
Amnesia
Magicka
Sins of a Solar Empire
Company of Heroes
Bayonetta
Last of Us
That still doesn't do the last 8 years justice...

Well that's when this generation started mate, not my fault that the console makers were exceedingly slow to get out the next console
