Hate to say it.....
Is it me or does anybody else think Manchester United are a bit underrated this year? Bookies making them 3-1, people making out as their midfield is beyond saving and that they're nothing without ferguson is baffling.
My thoughts is; they will add Fellaini to what is already a group of champions. What's with all the fuss?
---------- De Gea
Rafael --- Vidic -- Ferdinand ---Evra
-----Carrick -- Fellaini
Valencia --Kagawa --Welbeck
-----------RVP
Looks very capable, not to mention their subs department and if 'Rooney' stays they should still be slight favourite to win the league.....
De Gea is an amazing keeper
Rafael is the most exciting right back in our league
Vidic is still the best centre back if fit
Ferdinand was the best last year
Evra is consistently one of the better lb in the league
Carrick is highly underrated, not great in the biggest games, but for most games .....
Fellaini was pivotal for everton so I can only imagine he would add a lot for moyes there
Valencia
Kagawa Quality is high, dangerous if he plays in position
Welbeck
RVP
thoughts?

Re: Hate to say it.....
Their chuck the ball in the box tactics aren't going to win the league without saf
Now scholes is completely done, Rooney off, they have EVEN less quality than before
Kagawa isn't adapted well
Welbeck and Valencia are bang average
Defence might still do the job, looks like its close to needing a zimmerframe though

So SAF is the man that made RVP score goals...
I don't really understand this tbh, but I'll leave the talking for the end of the season after we walk the EPL again.

Blatantly saf's motivational and psychological influence was key for utd

So you are telling me that our squad is shit but SAF's motivation is the reason we won. I mean use your head dude. We should have walked the league 3 years in a row but we are a shite team....Diego Armando Maradona wrote:Blatantly saf's motivational and psychological influence was key for utd

Re: Hate to say it.....
I'm not saying shit, you had some world class players who have now retired or are on the way out. The workrate and mentality of your team stemming from saf were clearly important for you though. But for real though, your squad lacks that something extra now. Rvp is the only standout now

Re: Hate to say it.....
United are for me a question mark going into the season - and one that I wouldn't want to make predictions about until the transfers are done. SAF's retirement is a massive loss for them. Given the cracks in the facade (problem midfield, makeshift defenses, aging veterans) we could already see with Man Utd in Fergie's home stretch of tenure as manager, it's not unreasonable that people are pretty cautious. Especially since they couldn't get Thiago or Cesc, Rooney wants to leave, etc.
I'm not even predicting anything one way or the other - just pointing out you can see a greater potential for underperformance post-SAF. In a worst case scenario for them (i.e. Spurs and Arsenal both perform really well), they might even finish right outside CL spots.
Not that I'd bet on it, mind you.

Re: Hate to say it.....
And i dont think they can grind out away wins vs Chelsea, Liverpool, City etc. Games, where they were outplayed.
Look at Moyes away record vs Big Teams. 50 matches, 0 wins or something like that?

Re: Hate to say it.....
They are ridiculously underrated and have been for 2 years now. They get no credit for walking the league, or losing last year's league in the final minutes, while it is all attributed to a mysterious 'fergie factor'. Even now some people don't think they stand a chance for the upcoming league. A victim of their own success.

Re: Hate to say it.....
Fergie factor was huge in winning the title for United. His influence alone probably added an extra 15 points every season. They are still a top 3 team in the league and will challenge for the title but they are NOT better than City, and if they lose Rooney they will not be than Chelsea either.

That he had no importance or that he's the greatest? I think a couple of people here are underestimating his importance even if not saying he wasn't at all

Re: Hate to say it.....
Ferdinand is, like, 102? How much longer can he keep going? Especially with that dicky back of his?
Same with Evra, he's getting on a bit
Welbeck
For me, Valencia has never been a "title winning team" player. Sure, he has a nice cross, but what else does he offer?
The only thing that looks solid in that team is the defence. The lack of options in midfield is obvious

Plus, no officials are scared of Moyes, so those Fergie clocks surgically strapped to every referee's wrist are now useless

FFS I am going to miss the 5minutes additional time per throw in and 7.5 minutes per yellow card.

Re: Hate to say it.....
By some of the opinions on here and Twitter, you could be forgiven for believing that United are being written off this season. However, this is mainly an effect of the media's love affair with Sir Alex Ferguson. The squad is still unchanged from the one that won the league by 11 points last season. To write them off at this point is ridiculous, especially with three weeks left in the transfer window.
What does make a difference is Moyes’ ability to maintain and eventually build upon the squad that Ferguson left him. We’ve already seen signs of a regression in the transfer market. United have had trouble landing their main targets. Whether this is down to Moyes or other factors is up for debate, but the effect remains that United have yet to strengthen. Another concern should be Moyes’ tactical management. Unlike Ferguson, Moyes tends to stay more rigid in his tactics and playing style. When managing a larger squad against more diverse opposition, United could find itself becoming predictable. It’s likely none of this will show in the first month or even the first half of this campaign. However, as injuries begin to accrue and the stakes raise, we could begin to see the gulf in class between Moyes and Ferguson become more and more apparent.
With the competition in the Premier League this season, United fans should be very concerned about their club’s ability to mount a serious title challenge. They may not have fallen behind the competition, but it has at least caught up to them. However, supporters of Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Tottenham would do well to realize that United is far from removed from the race.

Funny how people are writing United off, I mean sure Moyes isn't SAF but you're all pretending he's some version of Sven-Goran Pardew or something
See you in December, we'll still be up there

Theyll still finish top 2, but its still City's title to loose this year. They'd have to screw it up royal for united to win it next year even if they keep rooney. But I think he's gone, which will make it even harder. If moyes struggles with the team they could slip to third but thats as low as I possibly see them going.

Re: Hate to say it.....
I don't look at their squad, I just think that they easily won the league last season and yeah, it's a little weird how underrated they now seem to be.
But City have spent a lot and have a better manager than last season, so from that point of view it's difficult not to think that City are bigger favorites than United.

I hope the english press will be hard on Man United and Moyes, but i dont expect it, the papers have always been pro-MUnited
Btw Stop calling them "United". The real UNITED is Leeds United.
