Elkann: 'Champions League a dream'
Club director John Elkann says the Scudetto remains the top Juventus target, though “the Champions League is a dream.”
Last season the Bianconeri went out in the quarter-finals to eventual winners Bayern Munich and won their second consecutive Serie A title.
“The results of the summer friendlies in the United States are not indicative of the campaign ahead. We must not get worried,” assured Elkann.
“Our principle objective for this season is to continue doing well in Italy for a third consecutive Scudetto, which is by no means a simple task.
“After that, of course, the Champions League is a dream.”
Elkann is one of the heirs to the Agnelli family and thanked UEFA President Michel Platini for today’s visit in Turin.
“It was wonderful to see Platini arrive for an entirely private visit. He came to pay his respects to my grandfather Gianni 10 years after his death and also Umberto.”
Today the Juventus A squad beat the Primavera 4-1, a tradition that opens the season in Turin.
“I think my grandfather would be pleased to see this tradition. Of the current crop of players, I believe Paul Pogba would be his favourite.”
