Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
Lionel Messi has now scored more goals for Barcelona versus AC Milan than against any other team in the Champions League.
Messi scored twice in the Camp Nou clash on Wednesday night, which Barca won 3-1, to take his tally to eight goals in as many games against the Italian side.
The Argentine had failed to net in his previous three matches, but converted from the penalty spot in the first half and added another late in the game after he was set up by Cesc Fabregas and went on to beat Christian Abbiati with a fine finish.
Leo now has six goals in the Champions League this term (having missed the trip to Celtic through injury) and 65 in all in Europe's premier club competition, leaving him just six adrift of the tournament's all-time top scorer: Raul.
And eight of those have come against Milan. Messi failed to net in the 2-2 draw at Camp Nou back in September, 2011 but did convert a penalty in the 3-2 win at San Siro in a second group game in November of that year. The two teams then met again in the quarter-finals and the Argentine netted two more from the spot in Barcelona following a goalless game in Italy.
The Catalans lost 2-0 in Milan last season in the first leg of the teams' last-16 tie, but Messi struck twice (his first from open play against the Rossoneri) in a remarkable 4-0 turnaround in March. He then added another at San Siro last month (his only goal in October), before Wednesday's double made it eight from eight.
Previously, Messi's biggest 'victims' in the Champions League were Bayer Leverkusen (six in just two games) and Arsenal (six in four) and the Rossoneri (six in seven).
Milan now have that dubious honour outright, however, although the Italians can console themselves that at least it has taken Leo eight games to reach the figure, while half of the goals have come from the penalty spot.
MESSI'S FAVOURITE CL VICTIMS
AC Milan: 8 games 8 goals
Leverkusen: 2 games 6 goals
Arsenal: 4 games 6 goals

His best performance after injury. Put Neymar and Alexis 1 on 1 with goalkeeper few times. They didnt score. Himself got 1 chance and scored. Best finisher ever. 1 second pause and goalkeeper is on the ground

Messi fakes his shots so well to unbalance keepers, he does it so fast sometimes the replay doesn't catch it..

Messi (if he stays fit) will probably end his career with 100+ UCL goals.
Interesting stat:
Leo Messi (26y-136d) scored 65 @ChampionsLeague goals over 5 years quicker than Raúl (31y-167d) managed. pic.twitter.com/eId7hnwX5y

This is what I was afraid of...He has lost that ridiculous acceleration from a few years ago and has been far easier to dispossessed in the last few seasons, maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Hopefully with Neymar fit he can actually recover fully this time and not rushed back straight away.

I'd like to see Neymar in the middle ... but i guess it's going to be Cesc most of the time .

Bilbao away and Villarreal at home will be our two difficult games. Neymar/Sanchez/Pedro/Cesc turn to show what they go to offer.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
Yep. Cesc is already crying about not playing, now Martino has no choice but to play him in the middle or risk some level of disharmony.Bénin wrote:I'd like to see Neymar in the middle ... but i guess it's going to be Cesc most of the time .
Even though, its pretty clear Neymar would be better in the middle and Pedro and Alexis both showing their good form atm to play together. Plus Tello would have a chance to play more which he deserves.
Alas, crybaby will probably get most of the time there.
Sorry if this offends anyone, I dont intent to start a thing (if I wanted to argue about it I would of posted again in the other thread) but its just my honest opinion right now. Cesc is always on the edge of pissing me off for various reasons.

Not going to discuss the Cesc thingy but why does Tello deserve anything? He's HORRENDOUS.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
Last year he wasn't horrendous but still not Barca quality. Just too 1-dimensional. I don't see what he adds except kick the ball 10 yards ahead, chase it and then shoot with his one and only finishing move - the Henry curler. Only use for him I see in this team is a 75 minute sub role when the team is leading by 3 goals and settles for the counterattack so he can use his pace. The Franchise wrote:He is horrendous because he doesnt get any consistent minutes.

Pedro-Neymar-Alexis
Cesc/Iniesta-Busquets-Xavi
That's what I'd do. 3 very fast and direct players upfront coupled with Fabregas' vision to spot their runs. Should end in fireworks. In games where more control is required Iniesta instead of Fabregas. That should win us every game until Christmas break (play the kids in the Copa and the last CL game).
