Tello is having a field day vs his FB. He has dribbled him like 5 times. A pity his crosses are being cleared.

1-3 Pique scores after a great Cesc pass. Cesc with a goal, 2 assists.

Tello could of done better there, should of been a little bit more calm and used his speed better.
He had alot of space, tried to kick it past and run too early. If he had waited just a little more he may of got a shot on goal out of that.

Apart from Bayern, we haven't been tested at all this preseason.
Real, for instance have faced the likes of Everton, Chelsea, Inter, Lyon, PSG!
Tata is in for a nasty surprise , especially if he doesnt push for a new CB. Last season every small team, be it in the Segunda or not, was guaranteed a goal against us. All they needed was one chance or a corner.

Don't count Tata out though.
he is the first coach we've signed in a while who has actually had real experience as a head coach.
He's faced Spain in the quarter finals in the world cup (and held them off to a very good game), and many other European teams.
also he also came very late July barely any time to know the team enough to push for new players, blame the board not him.

Midfield is too slow on the counters.
Alba can't defend.
Not that I'm surprised. This match just confirmed the above from me.

Not for the Barcelona board. They are obviously happy with the squad. In fact so happy that they deemed Thiago surplus to requirements and they see no need to replace Alba or even give him a tiny bit of competition.CBarca wrote:Did that need confirmation?

Alba does have competition in the form of Adriano (if he stays fit). However the CB situation is deeply worrying. It seems the folks in Catalunya have a short memory.

Does it matter as long as Rosell's balance sheet looks good?danyjr wrote:Not for the Barcelona board. They are obviously happy with the squad. If it was up to me I would have put Adriano ahead of Alba. Even though he's not a good defender either, he has certain qualities than I prefer to Alba.gondov wrote:Alba does have competition in the form of Adriano (if he stays fit). Alba fails in a difficult clearance and he can't defend? Knee-jerk much.

Re: Pre-season Friendly: Malaysia XI vs FC Barcelona
I think you can debate the difficulty of the clearance but I there is no question he should of done better. Or at least, a better defender would of done better. Its defending 101 you dont put that ball back into the danger zone, he should of used his right foot and got a better connection.
I also dont think anyone makes an opinion that Alba cant defend based on just that one thing, it has been the opinion on him for some time.

Re: Pre-season Friendly: Malaysia XI vs FC Barcelona
I seem to recall reading an interview or articles earlier in the year in which it blamed many of our problems in an awful pre-season, and claimed that our upcoming pre-season would be mostly based on Europe and against challenging sides. Instead, we got one where players barely had time to train and when they did they were severely jetlagged. Seems even worse than the previous one in the US. Anyone know if the European pre-season was ever seriously considered or not?

Re: Pre-season Friendly: Malaysia XI vs FC Barcelona
I think we are over speculating pre-season, it serves few purposes to regain fitness from a long break, break in new players, and practice new tactics
no matter which opponents we had this season, we got a head coach in late July so practicing tactics were already screwed.
our only new player this summer is Neymar, and he already played in the confeds cup, and several friendlies to make fans happy.
and the rest of the team fitness.. more then half our team was at the confeds cup, and Messi was traveling all over the world doing charity games.
I like what we did - going to Thailand to try and get our name around same with last year when Barca came to USA, more exposure can't be a bad thing.

Oh and I eat extremely bad when the fans started booing Messi at the end. Bunch of clowns. And apparently a friend of mine is one of them.

I just fail to understand their logic from a Barca fan perspective or from a Messi fan perspective.
