Liverpool grandad signs with London agency as Kenny Dalglish lookalike




A GRANDAD from Liverpool was today hoping to net a new career – as a professional lookalike for Kenny Dalglish.

George Connor was signed up by a London-based celebrity doubles agency.

The Liverpool FC fan, who turns 60 next month – the same age as the Reds manager – said he is constantly told he is the spitting image of King Kenny.

And he said he has had fun fooling fans for more than 20 years.

George looks so much like the club’s boss and former player he’s even been told so by immigration staff at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The dad-of-two, from Grassendale, said: “It’s been going on for years so I’m used to people saying that I look like Kenny.

“But it has been highlighted a lot more now that Kenny’s been in the spotlight again.

“Liverpool fans love it. Even Evertonians get a real buzz out of it and ask me to wind their mates up. It’s a real laugh.

“I was in town the other day and someone asked me if I would go to a pub in West Derby. It was the last day for one of the girls in the pub. They said just walk in with that smile and they’d pay for the cab. She was hysterical, she really thought I was him. “I went in O’Reilly’s Pub with my friends on Sunday and everyone was hysterical.

“I get a lot of attention when I go out. I’ll be sat in a bar and I can see people staring and pointing. I say to my wife Margaret I can see they are talking about me and they think it’s Kenny. I’ve had that for a long time now.

“One time I went to a charity night at the Adelphi. Mickey Finn stopped his act and said on the mic ‘Excuse me ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got a celebrity here tonight’. I’d noticed he’d been staring at me and I realised he must have thought I was Kenny.”

George, who works at DIY store B&Q, is on the books at celebrity doubles and celebrity lookalikes agency, Susan Scott.

The former Ford worker decided to try his hand at being a professional lookalike after scouring the internet for doubles of the Scottish footballing legend.

George, who is dad to George, 38, and Paul, 35, said: “My son showed my two-year-old granddaughter Caitlin a photo of Kenny and she thought it was me.

“I was curious because I’d never seen anyone else who looked like Kenny.

“I couldn’t find any lookalikes so I thought I’d send my photograph to an agency.

“People kept saying to me I should do something with it.

“Sometimes you get an opportunity in life and you just have to go for it.”
