I love the fact that even in our depleted state that we played (No Mata, Eto'o and Ramires sent off) it took the best team in the world and Pep a missed penalty from a 20 year old to beat us. Laughing

Imagine if we had De Rossi instead of Ramires and Eto'o instead of Torres. Proud

As my prediction will have indicated, I was expecting it to be men against boys. That we were literally 6 seconds from WINNING the sodding thing with 10 bloody men really does bode well going forward.

Nah Oscar did a great job as no 10 he tracked back held the ball up better than anyone else in our team, but I wonder what it would be if mata was in the hole instead

Oscar was one of our best players, he has been all season, I just mean, generally our team is better with Mata.

Lol there's a lot of hate for Chelsea and mou in the general discussion thread, I think both teams played their games pretty good.

Was really impressed by Chelsea during this game, never expected it to be this close. Tying away with the english champion and almost beating the european champion is a quite positive start of season imo. Interested to see how Chelsea go from here.

We were not as defensive as I thought we'd be and in periods we played some really nice football. Our first goal was simply perfect, beautiful. The turn and dribble from Hazard, the workrate and cross from Schurrle and the surprisingly quality finish from Torres.

Not alot we could do towards the end tired with 10 men but to do that against the best team in Europe is pretty good, especially when everybody thought we'd be destroyed.

Luiz first game back from injury and bossed it :bow:

I'm still mystified as to why Azpi doesn't play in a game like today. Ivan would be better than Cahill in the center and Azpi has a bit more pace to keep up with Ribery, that said Ivan did very well for majority of the match.

The manager getting the team to perform at this level just a few games into his tenure is indeed phenomenal. Seems to me like he's starting elementally with drilling and tightening up the defence, and will move on to working on the attacking side of things once he feels that's been accomplished, much like he did last time round. That he's getting results while doing it is just a bonus.

Another thing which I dared not mention in the gen section is that Ribery could very easily have been sent off. Made that stupid off the ball foul on Ramires for his first yellow and could easily have gotten another as he kicked out a few times when he got dispossessed, one of them simply kicking Ivanovic in the ankle after getting tackled.

That said he's still nothing compared to filth that is Manzukic. Easily my most hated player now, disgusting.

I just want to point out that on fifa 13, me as Chelsea vs bayern online in division 4 (mind you) beat them 4-1, I know this cant happen on real lmao but this was my game:

Hazard (43), Mata (52, 62), Oscar (72)
Mandzukic (45)

I played mata on left, Oscar in the hole and hazard on right, and Torres assisting twice Proud
