Re: Emirates Cup 2013 Preview
A 36 year old Drogba is still too much for us. I hate his antics and his show-boating but he is an example of a complete striker. Against some quality teams, this arsenal team has showed the weaknesses in the squad.
Looks like the Summer which was the Asian tour is gone. As Ned Stark would say "Winter is coming".
This team needs a DM, CB and Striker if we are to compete for the Top 4 let alone the championship.

Re: Emirates Cup 2013 Preview
First half: good intensity, some good passing but no end product
Second half: big pile of meh, let Galatasaray back into the game and paid for it
Disappointing Emirates Cup overall. Played against two sides who are near our level and were average against both them. There weren't a lot of things to be encouraged about.

I wanted to wait till after the both games before having an opinion; knee jerks are frowned upon around this streets

So many bad passes. especially in the last third.
We must sign at least 3 players.

i swear our creativity is none existent. i honestly feel we need either a winger or another TOP class AM. but tbh a quality forward like suarez would help our creativity a lot.

Going forward we were average, I don't know why people think Oxlade is an attacking mid. Lost the ball in midfield whenever he had it and made some pretty poor decision when attacking. Overall its a bit of wake up call for both the team and the manager.

Very disappointed in Miquel. He's had plenty of chances to show at least some promise but he's failed to deliver. Move him on and invest in a better 4th CB. Ginter?

Miquel has never been that good to be honest, its just the all Arsenal youngster hype. I find it a bit odd that after all these years the guy has never gone on loan.

this is what i said to rg, i said no way oxlade is going to be an AM, he hasnt got the vision or technique to play there, he should just stay as a winger and come inside. he would grow up to be a decent player playing that role.

Really though, why do all of our players think they can dribble their way past defenders or worse, the entire defense?

Re: Emirates Cup 2013 Preview
The only positives I can take from the two games are:
-- Koscielny being a beast
-- Sagna returning to his best form
-- Ramsey showing how much he's improved
-- The comeback against Napoli
-- There weren't any injuries
That's it. We've got no one to come in for when Arteta isn't available, we can't create high quality chances consistently and we lack quality up front.

Didier Dogbreath. The scourge of Arsenal. Still a diver.
My two cents. And I don't care if we won 7-0 or lost 7-0 today for me to say this.
If Arsene doesn't spend...he MUST be SACKED.
And I LOVE Wenger.
No excuses anymore.

Thats because nobody wants him on loan lol, this is what i am saying, i think its going to be hard for this guy to make it even as a professional footballer, i dont think he has it. Millions of people around the world have the talent to play football, but only a select few have the mentality to play football at the top pro level. thats why you see so many talented kids at the academy level drop out of football, miguel is one that has the talent but simply doesn't have the mentality to play infront of a crowed with expectations, its really difficult.

For the arsenal fans who have been around since 2008
Don't bother buying this new seasons DVD, I heard ethe directors are just gonna spinoff the last 5 seasons.

I agree with this, the only threat we had all game was either Gibbs overlapping runs or Theo getting in behind their back four apart from that Zero, nada, Zilch. I find it a bit odd that after all these years defensively we look good and now we struggle to create chances

I'd go with getting a Director of Football in personally. If we can't or won't or do that, it'd be not renew his contract instead of outright sacking him. Such upheaval would be a disaster so close to the start of the season.
I'm sure he won't go the entire summer without strengthening the squad, but if, for some reason, he does, I will probably lose a lot of confidence in his ability to build squads.

Re: Emirates Cup 2013 Preview
basically we didnt score ANY legit passing goals in two games. walcott's goal was a fluke, koscienly goal was a header and girouds goal was going wide and deflected, ridiculous creativity.

We don't dominate games as we usually did in the Fabregas era, it's all becoming a little bit sad right now.

Wilshere isn't 100% and Cazorla just came back. They will improve the creativity.
But we can do with a CAM

Well one positive is that the Arteta - Ramsey duo was very good again I thought, especially Ramsey... he's making a lot of Arsenal fans look like dicks (incl. me) - he has a place in the first team nailed on imo.
