Fiorentina continued to impress with a 7-0 thrashing of Apollon Limassol, as Mario Gomez was on target and Giuseppe Rossi scored twice.
Vincenzo Montella’s Viola are one of the teams to beat this season and appear to be gelling well in preparation for the campaign.
They crushed Cypriot club Apollon Limassol 7-0 in this evening’s friendly test.
It took former Bayern Munich striker Gomez less than a minute to break the deadlock with a solo effort.
Gomez was about to score a second, but it was only parried into the path of Manuel Pasqual for the 2-0.
Goalkeeper Neto seemed a little uncertain on crosses, but Fiorentina made it 4-0 after the break with two Matos goals in quick succession.
Facundo Roncaglia was given the captain’s armband in the second half and also found his way on to the scoresheet.
Papoulis had the first and practically only shot on target for Apollon Limassol on 59 minutes.
Giuseppe Rossi took control with a sensational strike, as he trapped a pass between two defenders and squeezed his left-foot shot into the top corner.
Rossi completed his brace soon after on Vecino’s assist.

Nice to see Rossi's name on the score sheet. Always been a fan and I believe he can make it to the World Cup with a solid season
