Alan Pardew will meet with director of football Joe Kinnear on Monday and is seeking the green light to press ahead with a £5 million bid for Darren Bent.

Kinnear has been given full control of Newcastle's transfer policy by owner Mike Ashley and Pardew, who is yet to make a single senior signing this summer, will make clear that he sees Bent as a priority target.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.VII
The stupid thing is that Man U could have had Sakho for 20 mil, who is a much better defender, now that Marquinhos is going to PSG.
Garay is too slow for EPL. He won't hold up to the pace there.

No one is paying €20m for Sakho lol, €10m is what PSG will mostly get for him.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.VII
PSG already refused 17 mil offer about 3 weeks ago... so yeah, they'll get 20 if they push. Just need to get Marquinhos signed before they start the process.
Offer was from one of Chelsea, Man U or Liverpool. No confirmation of who it was because it was rejected outright. But it was a EPL team.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.VII
I believe it when it happens, no one is paying 20 million euros for a third choice centre back who desperately wants out. It makes no sense at all... you can get better CB's while paying less.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.VII
He started for France NT and did very well and also started 27 games this past year at PSG and did very well. Only reason Alex was preferred is that Silva likes to play left CB and Sakho is also a left CB. Only Alex was a natural right CB. Silva specifically asked for Alex to play next to him for this reason.
Think what you want but one of the reasons Carlo got into hot water at PSG was his handling of Sakho... he was clearly... and i mean very clearly... the second best CB on the team. Carlo just wanted to have a top pairing and not mess with it. Same thing would have happened to Varane this past year if not for Pepe's injury.
Great talent. Played very well mostly last year. I guarantee you he will go for close to 20 mil if not more.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.VII
Personally, i don't think Sakho and Silva like each other. Sakho was the captain and PSG youth product while Silva was just handed captain's armband as soon as he joined... that really rubbed Sakho the wrong way. You never see the two talking to each other or even standing next to one another.
And him wanting to leave is irrelevant. Look at Higuain. Clubs that don't need money don't bow to pressure. They have a price they want and either they get it or the player is forced to stay.

Well both Higuain and Sakho are staying at their clubs then, no one is paying that much money for players who are not first choices and not that great.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.VII
Sakho is one of the best CBs at his age. Didn't know much of him until last year, although I first knew him being a wonderkid in FM08 or FM09.
Higgy will probably go to Napoli. He is a WC finisher and Arsenal look's as if they dropped their interest.

Yeah, well, they could throw in a bid for Messi while they are it...
As for small clubs not wanting to pay enough money for bigger clubs player's, well, you can always start your assault on that 4th place trophy with the mighty combination of Giroud-Sanogo, right? Personally, with the situation as it is, meaning Arsenal can't really get a better striker than Higuain, I'd start with 50 mil and then negotiate to a solid 40-45. Besides, it's the WC year, would Pipita really risk a falling out (along with his great status with RM fans) - we could easily bench him for a season.

Still not seeing anything concrete on this considering he has supposedly been our player since January
I haven't followed him at all since his switch to Portugal, but from what I've read €20M

He'll never go there.
That bid means, Arsenal's buy back clause is now activated and we can get Cesc for 25m
Thank you Moyes

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.VII
from what I've read today the buy back clause only activates if Cesc wants to go back to Arsenal. No clue on the validity of that, but I've seen it mentioned by a few journo's
Can't see him going to OT either but you never know, didn't think RVP would
Don't they have the same agent?
