Are we getting a vice-Pirlo? Empty Are we getting a vice-Pirlo?

Post by Juveman17 Mon Jul 08, 2013 4:33 pm

We have bolstered our squad up a considerable amount but one area shines out as our achilles heel. We have no true backup to Pirlo. How can we challenge for a CL on the back of a CM is isnt getting any younger? We need to buy someone who can rotate for him and eventually replace him. What are our options? Is it possible we will buy anyone else if we get Ogbonna?

Probably not, there's not only great numbers in the midfield but great depth. Having no vice-Pirlo may simply mean there is less influence on playing through him. I mean, there's ways to play without Pirlo in the line up and Juventus could explore them.

Hopefully Pogba will step up this season and be the closest to a Pirlo replacement as possible because we overplayed Pirlo last season which is why he wasn't as successful as two years ago.

Actually if we do end up getting Kolarov and Ogbonna then we won't "need" a vice Pirlo as we'll change formation back to 4-3-3 and in rotation we'll have the midfield covered.

                Llorente
      Tevez              Pepe
      Vidal     Pirlo   Marchisio
Kolarov Chiellini Barzagli Lichsteiner
                  Buffon

And our "B" team will be something like.

               Matri
  Giovinco         Vucinic
Asamoah  Pogba Giaccherini (Marrone?)
Peluso  Ogbonna  Bonucci Caceres
            Storari (Leali? Branescu?)

Vuci will probably be gone, however yeah we have a great B team

I think i'll make a thread in a few minutes about probable formations and back up options.

Yeah, I was about to put Jovetic on the A team and Pepe on the right of the B team but let's just wait and see.

Pirlo is irreplaceable. We're just going to have to adjust our style of play when he isn't playing. We have enough CMs to make up for when Pirlo isn't on the pitch. I think we need to stop thinking in terms of replacing Pirlo.

This season not but if we want to continue with a Pirlo type playmaker the closest is Verratti...maybe next season.(Anyway he is almost irreplaceable)
This season we can use Pogba he is solid at Pirlo's position anyway i think he doesen't give his full potential at this position,he has a good eye for goals so playing as deep-lying playmaker will reduce his shooting chances.

Pogba for me is Yaya Toure kind of player.

I would over use Marrone this season in that position or Buoy if we can't find one

This was my thought to. Marrone can fill in defense or in the midfield. He always looks solid when he plays (not spectacular or show-stealing but solid). I would like to see him given more chances this season, when Juventus can afford to.

I think we're better off loaning him out this year if we are able to sign Ogbonna. Even if we sell Giacch, the CM will be crowded and it will get more crowded if we sign a player like Kolarov because Asamoah will probably be pushed to play more midfield. Give him a year at a team like Parma.

I agree with Juventude, loaning him out to hopefully get him 20+ games would be much better for his development than shoving him in when Pirlo's injured/fatigued and hoping he can fill an unfillable void.
