Re: Game of Thrones - Part 2
Just add [BOOKS] in front of the title. That should do it

The posters would enter the thread and open the spoiler tag only to find the true intent ala Catelyn unveiling the Chainmail armor

Re: Game of Thrones - Part 2
I do not consider this to be much of a spoiler since it is about stuff that happened BEFORE the time that the books take place, but I'm pretty sure it's something you would never know unless you read the books, so open the spoiler if you dare...Raptorgunner wrote:What you guys think?

- A lot of people actually believe this to be true. It's not a far-fetched theory. Most people believe that Rhaegar Targaryen (Mad King's son) and Lyanna Stark fell in love and ran off together, but Robert Baratheon thought he kidnapped her and he started a war over it because he was madly in love with her as well.
Ned Stark was with Lyanna by himself when she died after attempting to rescue her by killing the 3 kingsguard who were sworn to protect her, with the help of 6 men (5 of whom died in the fight). Ned thought that she had been kidnapped too, but when he broke into her room to rescue her, she was lying in a bed covered in blood. She told him a secret that he was never supposed to tell anyone that day, which he never did: most people assume it is that she was actually in love with Rhaegar, not Robert, and that they had a child together. Lyanna likely died giving birth to said child: Jon Snow.

Re: Game of Thrones - Part 2
I'm re-reading the red wedding chapter right now -
"A man in dark armor and a pale pink cloak spotted with blood stepped up to Robb. "Jaime Lannister sends his regards." He thrust his longsword through her son's heart, and twisted"
Much better than the show's drive-through killing

Re: Game of Thrones - Part 2
While I agree it works better in book form I don't think it would have translated well to screen. The scene was a climax to a series of events that came before. This was the payoff scene and the last thing you need is ambiguity, you don't want TV watchers to say "who is that? WTF?". It's more of a shock when you can put a face on a betrayal and I think having Roose stab Robb the way he did had a great sense of realism and shock as opposed to the more dramatic description in the books. I'd also like to add that House Bolton wasn't exactly rocking the pink in the show so far lol
Besides I think it's sort of implied that the man in the pink cloak is Roose himself considering what was said.
So yeah I really enjoyed this interpretation to the RW. I'm glad they put care into making great TV as opposed to directly adapting something that was a great chapter in a book. That's actually been a huge positive for me in this series from season 1, there has been a concious attempt to adapt the story to make it a stronger TV show as opposed to a faithful word for word translation.
(The best example of this is Daario LOL)

They gave a huge hint as to who it is. You'll have to watch an episode in season 2 to fully catch the hint.

Yea the the book is much better imo, they tried to speed it up for the show. A lot was missing, could have been much better.
Btw why is it only 10 episode per season? a show this big and good should have been at least 12-14.

I imagine it's very expensive.
