Hihi, I agree Thiago as DM won't work and won't happen, but your proposal is probably just as bad. Illaramendi only plays at DM, he is not a DM, he is a deep lying playmaker - meaning he is not the best defensively. And he certainly isn't an upgrade on Alonso, not yet, which is the DM (DLP) we are currently bitching about not being mobile/fast enough to cover us on defence.
Also, the man crush on Thiago is somewhat understandable due to his recent performances, but he is quite far from being a better player than Modric. Now, I like the guy, but if you think about it Thiago is Barca's 5th-6th best midfielder and he is largely unproven in all senior competitions. And yet again, I refer you to our past: when did we ever play unproven youngsters in key positions? I think a lot of you guys that propose we "win with kids" will be massively disappointed when next season our only young starter is actually the already partly proven Varane, and even that is not a given.

It would make sense if there was even remotely some speculation/rumors of our own mid leaving.
Alonso's contract ends in 2014 and he hasn't renewed which means we need a replacement for him

Why do we need a replacement for him when we'll buy either Thiago or Gundogan and already have Modric ? They have the same role on the field, but they play in different positions.

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
Atm we have a squad of 26 players with only 25 allowed. And Carlo is looking to add another player or two which means at least one other has to go. Our squad as it stands:
Goalies: Casillas, Lopez, Adan and Jesus
Defenders: Carvajal, Arbeloa, Varane, Pepe, Ramos, Albiol, Marcelo, Nacho and Cacktrao
Midfielders: Alonso, Khedira, Casemiro, Modric, Ozil, Isco, Di Maria, Callejon and Kaka
Attackers: Ronaldo, Higuain, Morata and Benzema
================
Jese will get promoted so that makes it 27
if we are to make more buys we are going to have to cut quite a few players loose
As it stands now these are heavily rumoured to leave:
Cacktrao, Higuain, Adan and Callejon
Thats going to leave us with 23 players and we will buy a midfielder and a replacement for Cacktrao so that means we are going to have to cut more if we are to make more buys.

Because none of those can play his role as they are strictly CMs and not DMs/DLPs.
hence we are runoured to get a DM or DLP. Make sense?

Alonso's role is to control the midfield, the same with Gundogan's for BVB and Thiago's. Alonso isn't a DM/ball-winner, in our team Khedira is the one who recover the most balls.

Without and athletic DM or DLP, we're screwed against the top teams... that's as simply as i can put it. Personally, i prefer a DM because it allows more freedom for our fullbacks and Modric.

Xabi and Modric can't play together. Xabi needs someone like Matuidi/Khedira/Gustavo etc, same with Modric/Gundogan/Thiago.

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
Alonsos job is to stay with the CBs win balls and spread the play from his own half rarely moving into the opposition half
Modric, Thiago and Gundogans jobs are to carry the ball up and connect midfield with attack
so their jobs are completely different. If Khedira recovered more balls than Alonso last season it only shows how far Alonso had declined from the season before that because Alonso is usually the one who intercepts and recovers the most balls. The player most similar to him that is linked to us is Illaramendi. Kondogbia is another one linked to us but he doesn't quite do the same jkb as Alnso but is very strong and athletic, good attributes for DM role

Carlo Ancelotti will have to sell two to four players this summer to make way for new arrivals, reports have claimed.
AS insist that the new Blancos boss will need to trim down his squad if they are to bring in the likes of Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez and Ilkay Gundogan.
The Madrid-based newspaper believe that Angel Di Maria, Kaka, Fabio Coentrao, Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Maria Callejon could all depart from Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
Callejon and Kaka have both been linked with moves to Serie A, whilst Higuain looks set to complete a move to Arsenal within the next few weeks.

Real Madrid are looking to finalize a deal for Sevilla starlet Geoffrey Kondogbia, as talks with Sevilla have reach an advanced stage. The investment group that owns half of the player’s right have confirmed that they are set to meet with the club in the coming days.
Spanish sports paper Marca have reported that Sevilla and France Under-20 star Geoffrey Kondogbia, is in advanced talks with Real Madrid and could be set to join Isco as the second midfield signing of the summer for Los Blancos.
Kondogbia is part of the Doyen Group portfolio of player investments, which owns 50 percent of the player’s rights and the sports investment organization have now confirmed, that they are set to meet with Real Madrid officials in the coming days.

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
Newly appointed Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has his eyes set on adding youth development back into the Spanish club, something that seemed to have disappeared under former manager Jose Mourinho.
Spanish daily paper Marca is reporting that after several season of watching academy players overlooked in the first team, Real Madrid is preparing to make the most of their young stars in a new youth movement.
Some of the older players at the club, such as Ricardo Carvalho and Michael Essien, will not be returning next season and others such as Kaka could see a move away before the transfer window closes.
With older players on the way out, Carlo Ancelotti has made sure to deepen his talented squad with local Spanish youth and bright stars from the club’s storied youth academy.
Isco, who is only 21, is so far the biggest signing of the season for Los Blancos but the squad additions have not ended there as the club also re-signed academy graduate Daniel Carvajal who is also 21 years of age.
On top of the recent purchases, academy standouts like Jese will likely see promotion while Casemiro is also set to be promoted and the duo will join up with recently promoted forward Alvaro Morata who will likely take on a more important role next season.
After facing criticism for overlooking the club’s young stars under Jose Mourinho, it now seems evident that the club is ready to give them their chance to shine.
It is suggested that up to seven players on Real Madrid’s squad next season could be 21 years old or younger.

Apparently Real Madrid have reached a preliminary agreement with Sao Paulo for Kaka, according to Terra. They would pay 15m Euros. However Kaka will have to lower his salary. If he does that the transfer could be announced within days.

good thing he wont be a starter.
clumsy and slow are two attributes you dont want from a defender, he has both and excels at them.
carvajal would start, we should also buy cuadrado

Boy.. Spanish Armada is crushed. Del Bosques should have choosen a better excuse than Luck. Perhaps - Heat could have been Ok. I only hope It is just one bad day in office, otherwise looks really bad for Spain, including Madrid & barca next season. Even more for Madrid we have 2 more headless chickens - Ramos & Arbeloa when things don't work. Bad omens.

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
i wouldnt include ramos.
with someone as poor as pique beside him, i wouldnt blame him for anything.
pique and arbeloa and casillas were poor. casillas should have saved neymars goal and freds second goal. the entire was poor team actually.
but that performance is not a precursor for real madrid's upcoming season. ramos and casillas will bounce back
xavi has been is past his best for an entire season or more. torres and villa have are through. mata never contributes to spain. you could see alonso was missed and arbleoa and pique are two of the worst defenders playing for big clubs.

Arbie has been absolutely terrible for the whole season, not sure why Del Bosque even took him to Brazil. I'd put this Confederations Cup final fiasco down to Del Bosque, he's had one of the worst tournaments as a manager: wrong formation (4-3-3 with no wingers), no attack plan (Mata was crossing in the box for Torres...), playing tired players that are past it, out of shape or shouldn't be anywhere near the team (Arbie, Iker, Xavi, Pedro), not playing his best midfielder of the season (Martinez), and even having his slightly deranged CB taking a crucial penalty... So many mistakes he'd probably get the sack if he wasn't... well, current WC and EC winner
Anyway, as far as RM goes, Arbie's completely unreasonable lack of form, fitness and even common sense is a big concern. Suddenly our RB position seems extremely shaky - I am having problems accepting Carvajal, the back-up U21 RB, as a sure fire starter for us when he is an understudy to the starting RB, who is currently crap. With Marcelo - we always knew he could attack, but he still can't defend - on the other side, and still without a proper CB we're a defensive accident waiting to happen.

Todox Deportes now reporting this too. A 15m Euros deal has been agreed with Sao Paulo. Wages could still be a problem. Kaka earns 10m Euros a season, Sao Paulo can apparently offer 3m.

Kaka makes so much bank for such little impact.
Any real signs of us going for paulinho? Hell even Jovetic (seeing stuff around about that)
Paulinho had a great tournament, but to be honest that's all I've seen of him. If we do push for him, what's your guys' stance on him? Dunno/pay attention to Jovetic. So I have no opinion on the matter.

why the fkkkk we never linked with camacho, arent we after more "spanish" players.
We should just sign Gundogan and Camacho. Both that we need. They will cost around 35m while Khedira and alonso can leave for around 30m combined.
it will be good business.

Camacho is not a good player. He is very haphazard and slow.
we will make a mistake if we sign him, it will just be two steps back none forward
Carlo has a hard on for Modric who he apparently wanted whilst he was a chelsea manager. Gundogan won't see much time with Carlo around
