A Bola announced Tuesday in its print edition that Angel Di Maria is about to become a new player of the Paris Saint Germain for about 25 million euros. According to the Portuguese newspaper, the operation would be about to close.

Sevilla received an offer of around 30m for Jesus Navas from Man City, however Navas prefers Real Madrid. He's waiting for an offer from Real Madrid.

So how should we improve tactically for next year?

1. To begin with I hope our defending is better. We need a solid defense to win the CL. Under Mourinho our defense wasn't the best. When we first got Mourinho, I thought our defending would at least improve, it did improve a bit, but not as much as I expected, considering Mourinho is a defensive coach.

Also Ronaldo will need to track back if he plays LW and the entire team will need to defend and attack at the same time.

Marcelo will need to improve defensively and Ramos will need to cut out his errors and occasional haphazard defending.


2. Our possession will need to improve. However I think with Modric/Gundogan starting it will, since Khedira at CM doesn't allow us to really have effective possession. Having a playmaker at CM should improve the possession.


3. We need a clinical striker who won't waste chances. No more missing 1v1's in big games or messing up etc.


4. We need to be more intelligent and tactically astute in big games. Under Mourinho we weren't like that. If you look at teams like Man Utd, Bayern etc, you can see that big game mentality in them.

why would it with Gundogan and not khedira??

Because Khedira is just a B2B player. He's not really a playmaker and he isn't technical.

Gundogan/Modric can dribble, attack, playmake etc. Having someone at CM that can do all that makes it easier to play possession.

His role is to recover the ball, give it to CM/DLP and start the attack. If both of them will be higher up on the pitch with the whole team pressing, we'll have chances to recover the ball much quickly and higher on the pitch, even though sometimes it must be risky.

Mourinho thought that Khedira could be a surprise in the box, and it worked sometimes, if his finishing was better, he would have around 10 goals this season.

If both the CM and B2B are high up the pitch, then there would be a gap between the midfield and defense. Teams could use an AM there and exploit the space.

I think Khedira-Alonso is more of a counter-attacking partnership. Khedira was bought to complement Alonso.

However with Modric/Gundogan now taking Alonso's place, we'd need someone to complement them and that would be a DM.

Khedira I think would be a good sub/rotation player who would come on and solidify the midfield.

Khedira was that often in the opposing box because of Xabi's inability to be higher up on the pitch. Look at Martinez and Schweini, when the team is building an attack, they are both advancing. When we attack, Xabi is always in front of the CB's sometimes even behind Ramos, acting like a quarterback. With Gundogan the team would be much more fluid. Switching their roles, sometimes Khedira making runs in the box, with Gundogan covering, and viceversa, would make us much more unpredictable.

there is no viceversa lol, when khedira makes runs, gundogan can pass. if gundogan is making runs who is going to pass? khedira?

Gundogan plays with a DM, Bender. Also Martinez doesn't attack as much as Khedira would.

Gundogan wouldn't really be able to act as a DM and I'm sure he'd be more effective playing in a more consistent position instead of switching roles with Khedira.

It would be better having a pure DM protecting the defense while the CM is allowed to attack, playmake etc.

How real is the Suarez interest

Best trick Khedira pulled is that making every one believe he is absolutely irreplaceble and club can hardly make an improvement over him
