If so, there are a couple of mods that I would recommend.
Yeah I used my fair share of mods. There's one which turns Skyrim to a tropical forest Another one is pretty cool, it adds a storyline where you go to the Khajit homeland and do some missions there.
What is it called?
I recommend Climates of Tamriel for a graphics enhancement, Amazing Follower Tweaks which allows you to have 5 followers and special actions like building a camp, and various weapon mods

How did you get so many mods? I currently have 10 atm.

I use the Nexus Mod Manager (from the site linked above) and have simply collected a lot over the years. I do think his suggestion of moving this discussion to the Skyrim thread is a good idea though.

It offers a huge universe with gazillions of things to do. The storylines in side quests were mostly great (Dark Brotherhood ). It's mission structure= never ending. That's what makes the game even better, at no point is there a definite ending and you can literally play it forever.
It's ok mole, I also died after attacking the chicken in Riverrun
AKA no structure
As i explained in chat, it has nothing to do with it being difficult.... hell i have enjoyed a lot more difficult games.
I just prefer RPGs with enjoyable and varied missions with a deep and emotive storyline, like for example The Witcher and Mass Effect.
Skyrim has a fantastic world, but i'm not going to ignore all the shortcomings for the world.
As Spencer said Wide as the sea but shallow as the pond.

If you can spend hundreds of hours on completely new quests and explorations, I think that means it's a pretty deep pool of water
Re: General Games Discussion Thread
Each as boring as the last
Also the combat compared to the games i mentioned above is very poor.
Which doesn't help its cause.

Completely disagree. The lore and story line in this game is immensely deep. The number of deep side quests make this game truly unique.
You can go to a library, pick up a book and start a quest where you hunt a necromancer down only to find out he is dead and you get ambushed by his killer.
Or, you find a note on a dead farmer killed by bandits who points out their location to enact revenge.
There are so many instances like this that its impossible to say that this game isnt deep.
Re: General Games Discussion Thread
Surely though if you don't enjoy said missions then its only going to be a chore to grind through?
That's how i felt.... i find the missions a chore to get through and the storyline compared to RPGs i usually play non existent and combat very static and restricted.
I never said these things were fact btw, just my opinion feel free to disagree with them if you wish. But i didn't enjoy the game at all and i feel all the things i mentioned are legitimate gripes to be had with the game.

"The missions ARE a chore."
"The story IS shallow."
"The combat IS poor."
Those are very declarative and absolute statements. They don't leave any room for interpretation nor do they imply that this is based on personal experience or opinion outside of some very vague context.
YOUR experience may have been one with static combat but MINE has been one of quite varied and usually very mobile, stealth or ranged based encounters. Given the largely free-form method of approaching quests (stealth, magic, charisma, brawl) there's really no need for them to be repetitive and/or dreary either. The story itself may not be 100+ hours of detailed personal growth and relationship building but it is both lengthy and relatively well-fleshed. It's neither entirely linear nor a clusterf*** lacking in coherence and a satisfying conclusion. Even then, it's merely the spine upon which the rest of the game's skeleton (other faction missions) are placed, which itself only makes up the central structure fleshed out by radiating quests and stories and experiences which are all entirely unique to each individual based on personal style and mods. In effect you're looking at one bit of the central structure and judging the entire game on it... basically like looking at a spine and saying "man, all humans must be pretty boring and skinny."
Hell, maybe after taking into account the entire human structure you still feel the same (because you're coming from the perspective of Chris Christie or an elephant) but that's still down to personal perspective and not something to be stated with the certainty of straight "is/are" absolutes.

I'll be careful with my words next time to avoid such picky responses
I can only say what my experience was though and that was how i felt.
Not going to change that just because it might not be the opinion shared by the masses.

Nor do I expect you to. Hell, I'd be disappointed if you did bend to majority opinion. However, I DO have an issue with the way you frame your opinion. You like story-driven games? Great, fantastic, brilliant. But state your preference don't say that one game has a shallow or lacking main story, just say you prefer games that put more focus on the central arc. When you dislike one bit of the mechanics of a game don't state that they're poor or clunky or static, just say that they don't fit your style well.
Those aren't FLAWS or DEFICIENCIES though. They don't make the game of a poorer quality for their existence. They just make the game of a different type to your preference. They make it different.

Re: General Games Discussion Thread
Stealth, because pushing the crawl button while a zombie is staring you right in the face is considered stealth now.
I am not debating the amount of things you can do in Skyrim. IMO, few of its systems are made well. Maybe playing it in the PC is a different experience, but playing it in the PS3 where the loading time were enough for me to finish comic books in, and where the game crashed every other missions, did not make the game's shortcomings forgivable for me.

Crashes and bugs and excessive load times are legitimate complaints. The story not fitting into your preferences and such are not. Not sure why it's so hard to understand what my issue with Mole's posts was, but it seems to be a real struggle.

It is worth noting that most of those issues (the crashes, bugs, and infinite loading screens) have been addressed in subsequent updates though.

I never felt the missions were a chore. Nearly all of the quests were fun to do, it never felt like a chore.

Not in the PS3, and any subsequent updates did not fix issues in previous saves. In my case, the thieves guild and civil war storyline were completely unplayable because of glitches.

Re: General Games Discussion Thread
Yea the PC loading time is light speed compared to the consoles. When I played Skyrim on the 360, I didnt experience bugs but the loading times took a long long time which definitely could be a turn off.
Re: General Games Discussion Thread
I guess now would be the appropriate time to start the whole "PC > console" thing again, eh?
P.S. I'm not serious and if anyone actually tries to start that silly little spat I'll ban them so hard they'll lose internet for a week.

unboxed my PS3 again and downloading some games I've gotten from Playstation Plus for free like the most recent Devil May Cry. Will probably buy Okami HD too. Forgot about wanting to play that until RG brought it up.
