U actually prompted me to check that out on YT! And the American Samoans seemed very humble toward the end, at least from what I saw, lol.Kick wrote:Uncanny wrote:I think the biggest goal margin was Australia vs San Marino with a score of 18-0, came in 2001 for World Cup qualifiers, don't quote me, that's what I read sometime back

Is there any brazilians on this forum. What's the general feeling towards the WC? Do most people want it/excited about it despite all the costs?

Nobody is in favor of the WC.We are having the biggest protest in decades mainly because everyone is unsatisfied with what is happening atm.I dont think any competition will be canceled though.

Re: The Official Confederations Cup thread
Damn that is very crazy. Bit question, the protests are going on because of how the government is using the publics money to fund the building of the stadiums and the tournaments correct? So won't the revenue from the Confederations Cup and next years World Cup actually help Brasil's economy? Or am I missing some point where the revenue is not going to be put back into the economy?

Read yesterday this World Cup is going to cost more than the last 3 WCs combined That's just insane.

Re: The Official Confederations Cup thread
^^ that's not good at all, which means all revenue will simply go towards the cost. Very sad, will Brasil's economy take a huge dip because of this then?

Dont be too brash.....I'm sure the politicians will use plenty of the revenue to fund their 17 thousand reais a month salary they gave themselves as a pat on the back for creating these deals.
This world cup will be a disaster.

Re: The Official Confederations Cup thread
This video sums up the whole situation . Reminds me of Portugal spending millions to build stadiums for the Euro that no one uses anymore (and their upkeep is huge). But in Brazil the corruption is probably everywhere, which brings the whole cost to an humongous level.

It is the same as in India. Only the top 10% see the benefits due to crony capitalism.

Re: The Official Confederations Cup thread
Saw the video, but what's the point now? The stadiums have been built, the money is going to FIFA, nothing can be reversed now.

Re: The Official Confederations Cup thread
This is really sad to see....another example of Capitalism result in such a unbalance state and the top ppl deciding to allot an crazy amount towards the top international event while large proportion of the population is suffering.... ?
Dont know enough about how Brazil is run but seems large population also a problem there and corruption etc etc similar to China
