Roberto Mancini Officially Sacked
While his departure has yet to be confirmed, the Telegraph understands that his contract will be terminated before City depart for a post-season trip to the United States next Monday and that the home game against Norwich City on May 19 will be his last -- unless the club acts before the Reading clash

God I hope they really don't get Pellegrini . : I want them to stay crap forever and have a boss who doesn't have a clue about squad building and improving the squad and someone who can continue their binge spending on useless players.
His sacking is taking longer than I expected though.

Mancini Sacked- Official
on their official website just as David Platt made me aware.
won't even be in charge for the last 2 games....He had a terrible year this year, but a very bad treatment of a manager who brought titles and glory back to City after decades. His sack should have been in a more respectful manner imo.

Is Pellegrini nailed on for the job? No chance that Mourinho deceives everyone and joins them?

Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Everton with new managers next season.
Hopefully Arsenal as well.
That would be 5 out of the top 6 teams with new managers.

Mancini on May 11th:
"It's rubbish, this speculation. I know football and anything can happen. In one or two weeks you will know if it's true or not. If it's not true then a lot of stupid things have been written. If it's true then I'm stupid."

Very harsh decision, the fans adored him and i'm sure they would win the league next year if he got another crack.
Lets face it, the one difference between them winning and losing the league this season was RVP.

The fans adored him because they don't know any better. With that squad Mancini should have wrapped up the league long before the final day last season and he should have been in contention this one until the last stretch. I'll admit he's had rough groups in Europe but that doesn't excuse the fact that he was outplayed at home by Villareal and relied on luck to beat them. He has had 3 years to develop a project but City look more unsynchronized today than ever. As a tactician he is average. As a man manager he is average. The players clearly didn't play for him in the cup final, which seems to suggest they're not that fond of him. Almost every player who has played with Pelle says nothing but praise of him. A definite step up.

Bollocks mate. You know very little about the English league.
It's literally impossible for ANY TEAM to walk the league as long as Ferguson's Man United were around. The only manager and season it happened in the last decade was Mou's 04-05 team that practically "walked the title".
City played absolutely amazing football last season. They won the league with 64+ GD, mounting an amazing comeback, beat United 6-1 at Old Trafford. All that with no Tevez, and Yaya gone for 2 months. City last season were the best team to watch in the entire league. They were incredibly unlucky to miss out in their CL.
They won the title in amazing fashion that their fans will never forget. It was their first title in 44 years. It feels different than how GL glory-hunters celebrate their teams' success every year form internet. It was arguably the best day of their lives (sporting wise). Of course they'd love the man who did it.
They had a very bad year this season. But it all started from summer. You strengthen from position of strength. Mancini clearly wanted 2 of RVP, DDR, and Hazard. Instead, Marwood got him Javi Garcia (for DDR), Sinclair (for Hazard), and failed to offload Dzeko/Tevez to make room for RVP. The only true Mancini signing in summer was Nastasic who's been a success.
Mancini deserved another season to get it right. This is very similar to Chelsea sacking Carlo after finishing 2nd a season after doing the double.
Yes, Mancini is not a GREAT manager, but he deserved next season to get it right. I still believe had the news of him being sacked not come out a day before FA Cup final, the would have won it.

28Mill compensation...
*bleep* this i'm becoming a coach and shamelessly offering myself to the rich desperate clubs and retiring with an 8 figure bank before i'm 50.

Re: Roberto Mancini Officially Sacked
@Sepi: I never said that he should have walked the league, only that he could have wrapped it up sooner by not losing to sides he really should not have lost to. Even if you argued that it's perfectly normal to lose points against Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal he still he lost points vs Fulham, Stoke (twice!), WBA, Everton, Swansea and Sunderland. He lost the tactical battle on the FA cup final not because Swansea had some sort of tactical master plan but because he played with 0 width and placed a front two with very little chemistry and overlapping qualities. Also if you're going to try to convince me that City could not find a better CM than Javi Garcia and a better winger than Sinclair I don't even know what to say, you're making it sound as if his choices were RVP, Hazard or... Sinclair.
