Marchisio committed to Juventus
Claudio Marchisio has reacted to links with Manchester United by pledging his future to Italian champions Juventus.
The midfielder, who grew up in the Turin club’s youth system, has been paired with the Premiership giants in recent weeks.
However, cornered by the Italian media on Friday, the Italian international made it clear that his future is black and white.
“I don’t see myself far away from Juventus,” he told Mediaset. “It would be absurd to leave now that we have started winning.”
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, he commented: “I’m not interested in the rumours, I’m happy at Juventus and I want to renew my contract.”
The idea behind the proposed Marchisio sale, who is tied to the Old Lady until 2016, is that it would raise funds to possibly re-sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“Ibra is a player who has always won in all the jerseys that he has worn,” Marchisio continued. “If he arrives then we would welcome him with open arms.
“All players who can help us to grow would be accepted. These are situations for the club to consider, but he is certainly a great player.”
Ibrahimovic left Juventus in the summer of 2006 after the Bianconeri were relegated to Serie B as part of the Calciopoli probe.
