Re: Balon D'or 2011
Has to be Messi I do not see how it possible for it to be anyone else.
Scored in the final scored two against us and had an amazing CdR and La Liga campaign, picking up three trophies along the way.
Won't matter how he plays in the Copa imo. I see Ronaldo coming second, well he should in my opinion.
Third is a tough one to call I haven't seen any real stand outs not even in the Barcelona camp.
We will have to wait and see I guess

Messi will come a solid first, while Ronaldo will come a solid second. I think third place will be fought out between Gomez, Iniesta and Vidic. Neuer will make the top ten this year.

1. Messi
2. Ronaldo
3. Xavi/Iniesta/Vidic
Gomez will probably be somewhere in the top 6 or so, but I don't he'll be in the top 3.

Re: Balon D'or 2011
How are people voting for Xavi above Iniesta?????????????
Xavi has been quite mediocre this season while Iniesta has been Barca's 2nd best player behind Messi.
1. Messi
2. Ronaldo
3. Iniesta

TBF I think Alves was Barcelona's second best player behind Messi, if we are looking at it seriously, the guy defended like a rock and basically became an auxiliary play-maker as well. Had a number of assists and created a plethora of goal scoring chances.
I don't have to like the guy, but credit where it is due....

Tbh yh that's a fair point id like to say he's probably been on the same level as Iniesta i wouldnt like to split them. Also Iniesta's work gets more noticed so he will probably get the edge of Alves when it comes to the Balon d'or anyways.

It's a bit early to say really isn't it? If messi does really well in copa then he'll probably get handed it again, but we'll see who else gets nominated.

I would totally want to see Manuel Neuer nominated in the top 10 at least. As I never tire to reiterate - goalkeepers need more love, too!

I don't think it's too early. The major points have already been distributed (Leagus, Cups, UCL and so on..)
Only the Copa left, and it will probably boost Messi's chances even more..

Oh right thats true. I just figured it was 1/2 way through the year and it wouldn't be clear just yet. Do they mainly base it off the year finished and not how well they do at the beginning of the next season?

Well I guess they will mainly look at the continuity through the rest of the 2/2 of the season. If that doesn't radically change then there will be no surprises.
I think btw...
