Ooredoo wants to Sponsor Liverpool
"The goal was to sponsor a big English club with a huge history, our search included Arsenal & Manchester United but the former two have long sponsorship deals and the same applies to Manchester City so Liverpool is the only club available right now."
"We want to sponsor the club in full. We want to sponsor the Stadium (possibly rename it) as well as the club's kits. Our goal is to reach the Asian markets where the Premier League has an enormous fan base."
"We received the tender from the club a few days ago and we are currently in the process of due diligence and we are studying each aspect of the study."
"It is a dual interest, Liverpool needs the money to compete with the European heavyweights and we want to expand our brand to reach new markets via football."

Re: Ooredoo wants to Sponsor Liverpool
Rename the stadium? No thanks. Surely if they're that interested in sponsoring the club (or, you know, not that interested but we're the only option left ) we can reach a deal that doesn't involve Anfield naming rights... unless they want to completely finance the refurbishment or a new stadium I can't see the club allowing it.

Re: Ooredoo wants to Sponsor Liverpool
Yeah renaming Anfield wouldn't go well with anyone involved at Liverpool.
Although OO Red OO on our jerseys would be great

I can't ever imagine Anfield being sponsored by someone ever. But given our owners, it can feasibly happen. Besides, the name Ooredoo sounds cringeworthy.

Re: Ooredoo wants to Sponsor Liverpool
It's less likely under FSG than it was under the previous two sets of owners, given they have a track record of protecting "heritage" ties within their sports clubs. Not sure what your reasoning is beyond "they're American thus must be bad." Good commercial work =/= lack of values or understanding of history.ExtremistEnigma wrote:I can't ever imagine Anfield being sponsored by someone ever. But given our owners, it can feasibly happen. Re: Ooredoo wants to Sponsor Liverpool
My reasoning was based upon the fact that FSG are relatively inexperienced in the football realm and can sponsor the stadium just for the sake of more funds for the manager.RedOranje wrote:It's less likely under FSG than it was under the previous two sets of owners, given they have a track record of protecting "heritage" ties within their sports clubs. That's not reasoning, that's assumption.ExtremistEnigma wrote:My reasoning was based upon the fact that FSG are relatively inexperienced in the football realm and can sponsor the stadium just for the sake of more funds for the manager.RedOranje wrote:It's less likely under FSG than it was under the previous two sets of owners, given they have a track record of protecting "heritage" ties within their sports clubs. If this is a ploy for them to do a takeover I dont want anything to do with it. I'd hate to become another City/Chelsea type, buying trophies and all that. We do things the Liverpool way.

Re: Ooredoo wants to Sponsor Liverpool
I don't think Stadium naming rights will be offered unless the deal involves financing (in part at least) a new stadium or refurbishment of present stadium.
BTW, anyone know about this firm! I haven't checked yet, but don't recall this brand in Asian market.

It was previously known as Qtel, its Qatar's primary telecommunications company. They just annouced its rename like 2-3 months ago. "Ooredoo" means "I want to" in Arabic

Thanx. Now it makes sense. Qtel is pretty big in West Asia and Africa.
