Ilkay Gundogan appreciation thread
As most of you know i have been hyping this guy for a while ( perhaps too much at times

But he's putting masterful performances in for nearly 2 years now and won't be long before he forces his way into Germany's starting eleven and so great to watch.
The next great CM of football ( i can say this with certainty) and the brains of Dortmund.

Re: Ilkay Gundogan appreciation thread
What i like about him is that he isnt a liability and doesnt need special arrangements in the midfield to enable him. offensively as well as defensively he stands a stud.

What's the chances of him staying in Dortmund for the foreseeable future?

Re: Ilkay Gundogan appreciation thread
What a display. What a f*cking display last night
If it wasn't for Lewa putting on one of the finest striking displays I have seen in a very long time he would be MOTM.
I didn't know much about him, but his playing style is great.
He recently said he wanted to move to the likes of Madrid. Why are players so eager to get out of Dortmund? It's not like a random club who have 1 or 2 gems and they look to move on, they're a club stocked full of talent in a league which is evidently on the rise.

Whatever Tom wrote mirrors my own thoughts of his display yesterday. There was one instance where I think he dribbled past three Real Madrid players and thankfully Diego was on in a mood to save his shot which was heading for the top corner nicely.
And he is mobile and both footed. How lovely.

He would have to be an idiot on Abramovich proportions if he ignores him at this rate.

Money and prestige, but it won't be so easy for clubs to sign him as he doesn't have a release clause.
If you notice the only ones who leave Dortmund either have a release clause or their contract is close to ending.

Impressive all round player.
At Dortmund he does play with Bender/Kehl, who I presume are pure DM's. So not sure how he'd fit in at Real Madrid.

Will replace Alonso and will be an instant improvement. Play him next to Khedira/new DM

Doesn't have an exit clause, so he'll stay.

Probably. They're both pretty good defensively, so you wouldn't need a destroyer.

that was absolutely crazy, he made it look so casual.
what always amazes me about the guy is how he doesn't need any time to control a ball. eventhough he is surrounded by good passers, sometimes bvb get pretty hectic after winning a ball. but no matter how hard, high or crooked they pass the ball to him, he will keep and process it.

Gundogan would be able to defend on his own? If so he could work with Khedira.

He controls the pulse of the side, creates deep and pushes forward (intelligently I must say), bundles of energy, can create space when needed and he's able defensively

Re: Ilkay Gundogan appreciation thread
I've watched him before and been impressed. Yesterday he literally ran the show. Unfair to the rest of Dortmund to say he manhandled Madrid's midfield himself, but it sure looked like it at times. Was almost unplayable.
The future is bright for this kid and I think he's the next big CM along with Thiago.
Very, very impressed.
