Re: Ilkay Gundogan appreciation thread
I've watched him before and been impressed. Yesterday he literally ran the show. Unfair to the rest of Dortmund to say he manhandled Madrid's midfield himself, but it sure looked like it at times. Was almost unplayable.
The future is bright for this kid and I think he's the next big CM along with Thiago.
Very, very impressed.

Didn't catch his last game that sparked the bandwagon but I saw him since last season and he was surprisingly good. Next great CM? Like as in the best in the world? There are other young MFs with as much maybe more potential so that is a dubious, or at best premature statement

Didn't say next best ( although he is the group of those who could) just the next great CM to come through.

Re: Ilkay Gundogan appreciation thread
My first tweet after the game was that Lewandowski would get the headlines, but I don't think a player did more for their stock in that game than Gundogan. 10 out of 10 performance for me.

Me as well

Well slightly different i basically said Lewa will get all the praise but Gundogan was the true MOTM a masterclass in being a midfielder.

Re: Ilkay Gundogan appreciation thread
I know Gundogan had a good game, however it's down to the tactics as well. Our tactics were simply poor, had they have been better, Alonso/Modric/Khedira could easily have had good games.
It's not just down to the individual's, it's down to the tactics as well.

Absolute masterclass from Ilkay. Defnsively and offensively he is everything you could ask from a DLP. How many years does he have in his contract? What's his release clause? He is one of football's brightest gems.

Re: Ilkay Gundogan appreciation thread
Perhaps Roman should do a deal with Dortmund.
Kloppo, Lewan, Hummels and Gundogan to Chelsea to solve all our problems.

I'm sure they'd love that sweet, sweet Euopa League at Chelski. That XI you posted would boss it, though.

Played at AM tonight though he has played there originally before joining Dortmund. Yeah it's safe to say he's legit when it comes to CM's.

Gundogan ruled out of World Cup
"
Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has revealed Ilkay Gundogan will miss this summer's World Cup as a result of the back injury that has plagued his season. " goal
sucks.

Re: Ilkay Gundogan appreciation thread
well that was to be expected by now. It's been too long, and then this bullshit about him participating in the winter training camp, about to be back, 'just a bronchitis' still keeping him out.
Then he's out another half year.
Ridiculous. Even I am pretty pissed off at Dormund's information policy, and I'm not even a Dortmund fan (although I am a big fan of Gündogan).
What the *bleep* are they doing? One whole year?
Huge loss for the national team.
