SES? Stephen El Sharaway? Very Happy haha... but he is young and awesome, he can adapt.

Yeah. I never bothered to learn his name and everyone 'round here calls him SES.

Chelsea's striker conundrum has been solved:
If Fernando Torres' return to goalscoring form had not been enough then Wednesday's 3-0 win over Schalke surely signifies the end of the hysteria about Chelsea's choice of centre forwards:

I know, I saw that. Silly. Give it another two months and if they're doing the same, then write an article.

By the time Torres regains a good level , his legs would be too old.

What do you expect him to do , Kick ? What would be considered a good level by Torres according to you ?

Because for me , an outsider who might catch the next game and someone who doesn't really care what the fans expectations are for Torres , in my eyes Torres has rediscovered himself ever since dat season when Chelsea won the CL , it's just the general stick that stayed with him . The Torres jokes were nice once , but it seems like a long time ago since those were even funny , relelevant or worth it. That alone speaks volumes about Torres , both on and off the field.

Obviously , he might not be the most clinical , spectacular or imaginative forward a team can have , but he knows how to score on the big occasion and i am pretty sure Torres has so much to give for Chelsea . I don't think he has to regain a good level , because he already is above that imho , just keep fit , get some playing time , untill the most important matches of the season come along.

Because when you find yourselves in important games , Torres is someone who has proven himself more than once. Idk for the rest , but as long as he keeps scoring dem goals when it matters the most , nothing/nobody else matters more than that. Something last , i am not sure how much most of you remember of Torres with Atletico , but he is that kind of player again , only much , much better . At Liverpool he was the focal point of the team , along with better pace . The Torres i remember at Liverpool seemed one sided with a limited set of skills , albeit what he did he did really well . We can say a lot of things about what Torres has done , but the Torres of Chelsea is a better player than that of Liverpool imo , leaving aside his first months . I am not sure how funny or silly it may sound to you , but i rate Torres , despite the occasional shiter.

To think that, you would have to have watched approximately zero Chelsea games last season. Either that or just looked at his [criminally misleading] stats and made a conclusion on his season from them. Because he's been poor, at best — woeful as worst. Looked markedly better vs Spurs, Schalke, and City to an extent in recent weeks, but was again dire against Newcastle at the weekend. He's finished as a player. Sure he'll have a good showing or two every few months. Even the most average of players do. But as far as performing at a level required of him, on a consistent basis, in all competitions, and against teams of all calibers, it will never happen again.

Post by Dante Sat Nov 09, 2013 12:21 am

sure i won't see the Stoke , Hull and the likes game , meaning i am definitely not consistent and you're right that i haven't seen many games of chelsea. But i will catch some , every now and then. On the other hand , i didn't look at any stats or whatever , nor was my intention to speak about stats. Far from that , i said that imo , Torres is one for the big occasion and he has proved this bit , actually.

Anyway , i am not questioning any of you. All i am saying is , i don't think he is that terribly bad as people make him out to be , that's all. I understand you want better , fans always will want better , that goes without saying for any fanbase.

Just saying , whenever it happened and i watched a Chelsea game , or even highlights sometimes , Torres seems to be on the scoresheet . Surely he must be doing a few things right , no ? And in any case , Torres was never a world beater as you seem to describe.. but he was one and i want to believe because i like him , he still is one for the big occasion.

I do realise though that it's frustrating to watch a striker with no consistency .

The arguement on Torres goes both ways, he will not be able to go back to that level, but he was very good since the spurs game minus Newcastle. Let's see if he can do it again when he returns from injury

José Mourinho says Chelsea will not sign a striker in January:
José Mourinho is sticking to the claim he made two months ago that Chelsea will not be signing a striker in the January transfer window
http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-boss-adamant-over-moves-6355337

"It’s not true what I read a couple of days ago that the agent was in London and meeting with me or with Chelsea directors. It’s not true at all."

"In the January market we are not going to buy any striker. We will go to the end of the season with Fernando, Samuel and Demba. Nobody goes in and nobody goes out."

So the last time a Chelsea striker scored a goal away from home in the league was in tonight's fixture last year...on December 8th 2012. A full YEAR. Staggering statistic.

Chelsea must sign a good striker in January...and would be top of the league several points clear right now if they had one, says Blues legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink:
Former Chelsea forward Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says it is imperative Blues boss Jose Mourinho signs a new striker in the January transfer window
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25536101

"Jose Mourinho won't publicly say it but we all know he is looking for another striker."

"In the summer he was looking for a striker and could not find the right one."

"He has always had a very dominant person at the front at every club he has been at who used to take a lot of pressure off the team."
"Yes they signed Samuel Eto'o, but with all due respect to Eto'o he has been an absolutely magnificent footballer but he is not getting any better."

"He is on his last [legs], he is getting older and he cannot play game in, game out."

"Yes he can come off the bench, but he cannot lead the line."
"Torres started the season well and we all thought he was getting it back but he is not very consistent and that has been his problem at Chelsea."
"They have been dominating games but they are not scoring a lot of goals and there is the problem."

"If you look at Manchester City they are scoring freely but they have a few good strikers."

"If Chelsea had a Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero they would be top of the league and a few points clear."

"It is a problem in terms of who they can get, but they still need an out-and-out goalscorer, someone who is going to score you 25 goals a season."

"They are playing more 4-3-3 with a lot of movement so you need an Aguero or Suarez or Lewandowski."

"That type of player is not easy to find and there is not a lot of them about but at the end of the day if you have money to spend and if you are Chelsea then players will want to join you."

He would.

He's got a similar style to Drogba in his physicality and throwing himself about the pitch, i'd be more than happy if we somehow signed him however I don't see him leaving Atleti halfway through the season unless we through an insane amount of money at Atleti.

If only we had a prime J-Flo back :'(

Athletico will not part with Diego Costa in Jan, atleast that is what they are saying. I really don't see any other good options that suite Chelsea.

Also I am not confident Lukaku will be Jose's first choice next year. I think Mou will closely watch the world cup to get new talent.
