Rafa: I will return to Liverpool
Rafa
I'm pretty sure we're keeping Rodgers for the next decade or maybe more, barring some unexpected drop in quality. (or until Hyypia and Carra (Gerrard?) can take over).
I think Rafa has lost the plot in choosing himself a right club to manage. He still a top manager in my eyes and he just needs to choose the right project. Inter and Chelsea were the worst possible jobs to take on and he did
Where do you see him next?
Monaco?? Sampdoria?? Atletico?? Somewhere in Bundesliga?? Another team in PL??

Comeback Rafa
at least we'll go deep in cup competitions, and won't play the ridiculous 4-2-4
@ Messiah. There is more chance of me putting my fingers in Anne Hathaway's vagina by the end of the month than Rodgers being our manager for a decade
I mean, even Rafa only lasted 6 years.

Re: Rafa: I will return to Liverpool
Only way he'll come back is as a DoF. He won't manage Liverpool again.
G+H dude... I'm sure if we had FSG Rafa would of stayed on for another 4 years or so.

Re: Rafa: I will return to Liverpool
Yeah, if Rafa comes back then that'll be in the form of Director of Football. That'd be brilliant.
As a manager.. I guess good options for him would be Monaco, Napoli, Schalke or even Anzhi perhaps? He'd make them some force in Europe.

He would certainly be a candidate if Rodgers doesn't get top 4 next season and gets sacked.

Considering their position in the table, it doesn't really show they're on their way up imo.

Re: Rafa: I will return to Liverpool
We're just 3 points short of what we amassed last season, scored 12 more and have conceded equal number of goals. Lost many players in the summer and massively reduced our wage budget. Not to mention the deadline day mishap and we were short of players till the winter mercato and were relying upon youngsters. We have definitely improved over last season, playing some swell attractive football unlike last season where we were playing defensive minded, hoofball-esque football. In my honest opinion, FSG won't be looking for replacements even next-to-next season.. BR will be given his chance till his contract expires.

Playing good football doesn't mean the club's doing well.
The club have to get the results as well. Liverpool's standards need to be high.

Re: Rafa: I will return to Liverpool
Liverpool play one of the best football in EPL if not the best. I love them this season tbh and I think they'll do stupid move if they sack their manager. Liverpool needs 2-3 signings and they can challenge for top 3

EXACTLY. OMG, NAIL HEAD
Rodgers will have to mount a very serious challenge for 4th, (or get it) next year.
This year he had the excuse of not having a 2nd striker for half a season, and having to play 18 year old kids, plus new system being implemented.
Next season, is the defining one for him. None of those stupid losses to A.Villa, WBA, etc at home.
It's HALF A DECADE that we've been absent in CL. I haven't felt it because I've been in Uni, but now that I'm graduating I realized we were NEVER IN CL during my Uni career
Those terrible Chelsea fans who are uther c*cks talk shit about Rafa but he has them in semi-finals of 2 prestigious cups, while maintaining their top-4 status, despite playing every 3 days. I hope they get their wish and their MESSIAH Mourinho goes back to them next year.
Gil is always welcome to become a Liverpool fan though

Re: Rafa: I will return to Liverpool
Just a reminder that Liverpool's form since the start of the year has been good enough for 2nd place in the table, and that we're top 4 if you exclude the first 5 fixtures of the year. Obviously it's a bunch of what-ifs, but assuming nothing goes fantastically wrong, we're on solid pace for improvement.

I have said this before but so was we last season and Wigan was in the top 4 in the second half of last season.
It means very little at the moment, obviously i don't expect you to totally collapse like we did but still

Re: Rafa: I will return to Liverpool
Well, in our case it actually means sense. At the start of the season, the players were still adapting to the new 'pass and move' tactics which weren't that much prevalent under hoofballew Woy's tenure as well as during KK's reign. Not to mention we got two new players in January window and the reliance on youngsters such as Shelvey, Sterling, Suso dropped.

I agree 100%, we need to make sure not to overrate those stats. Form table is well and good, but a full season is what makes or breaks a team, and I wouldn't claim we don't deserve the position we're in. Anything can happen over the summer that might set us back as well, so it doesn't necessarily show us anything for next year either. That being said, to claim that this team isn't looking better than the team who was 18th (?) in the form table in the second half last year is a little ridiculous.
