Re: Portugal 3rd in qualification
Lol but he has showed up in more then 2 of this 100 games..The Sanchez wrote:Surag wrote:The Sanchez wrote:He is a NT flop. End of Story. Watch Portugal win tomorrow without Ronaldo...
Cant afford to say that after his recent showing in the EUROS.Popped up in important occasions although ultimately fell short to the eventual champions.
Too many extremists here in GL.Either its blind hate or blatant fanboyism. There's no middle ground at all.
Two games he stepped up every other game friendly or competition he flopped hard and copped alot of criticsm. Just because someone shows up in two games compared to the other 100 or so games doesn't make them great.
My posts are full of sarcasm...

Re: Portugal 3rd in qualification
But on the whole he is mediocre for Portugal and always has been...
Not seeing where this is hard to see.
Either way, I hope Portugal crash and burn. But they'll end up qualifying like always.

I see why all the Madrid fans kept bringing up the Argentina argument vs Messi, to mask his Portugal performances

No Madrid fan has mentioned Messi in this thread yet.
They will now probably, thanks to you.

Would you guys seriously rather see Israel in the world cup over Portugal? I may not like Portugal at all however I hope hope they make it to the tournament to make the tournament interesting as I watch every single one of the 65 matches (if possible).

Israel would make the tournament more entertaining than Portugal, Moutinho aside.

That is bullshit.
Portugal always up their game in knock out rounds..they have been consistently very good in recent international tournaments.
2004 Euro,2006 WC ( semi) ,2010 WC (lost to spain on offisde goal) and 2012 Euro (lost to spain on penalties) proves it.
Re: Portugal 3rd in qualification
Imagine both Spain and Portugal end up second in their groups and then getting drawn together for the play-offs. The drama!

LMFAO
the thought of Ahmedinijad and Obama both attending games *omg omg*
but make no mistake if these teams were put in the same group there would be a redraw because the one they did was only a test draw

Benfica fan i was speaking too said this on Portugal....That's a cultural thing.
People in this country only open their eyes when everything is really REALLY f***ed up.
Happened several times in history.
Myself I am like that:
When I lost my virginity, I knew that I was going to be nervous and eventually lose my erection. I tried not to think about it.
Instead of addressing the problem, I went for it. I didn't know even how to put a condom in my dick.
So when the night came, I knew I was not prepared. I was in trouble. I was so nervous that I vomited.
Her grandma came to me and gave me a recomforting tea.
So she, disappointed, went to bed. I was alone in the bathroom spanking my dick trying him to get hard, nothing.
Eventually she had sheep in the backyard. The sheep started to have sex then. I got so horny watching that, that I ran to her room and f***ed her in the ass.
Moral of the story:
Portuguese people tend not to care about things till things get ugly.
WTF?
Seriously though, Portugal should be qualifying easily with the players they have.
Who is their manager? Is he under pressure with the media yet?

Re: Portugal 3rd in qualification
The only notable players they do have are Coentrao, CR7, pepe and Moutinho. Far from being favorites but consistency was always there, therefore I think this current slack is imminent really.

They have much better players than a lot of countries. They're just not living up to their potential.

Re: Portugal 3rd in qualification
One thing is having alot of talent and potential yet another is to get the teams system working as a whole. The talent was always there but not enough to win just due to sheer competitiveness.

Re: Portugal 3rd in qualification
Its not very complicated.
When the coach is useless and the teams supposed best player is playing inconsistently at best, your probably not going to do very well.

Re: Portugal 3rd in qualification
Ya they need a manager who puts a system in place that makes them very difficult to beat. (Even if its someone like Trap who plays the most boring worst football in the world)
They leak too many goals. If they could manage to get clean sheets more often they should have enough attacking talent to score goals and win plenty of games.

Re: Portugal 3rd in qualification
Since the Euro's they have won just 2 games
vs Azerbaijan.
And in this game, they were crap...and they didnt actually score untill Varela (yeah him again) scored after coming off the bench.
Then they scored 2 in the last 5 minutes, making the scoreline look better than the performance was.
Before that, they beat the mighty Luxembourg 2-1, a game in which they went 1-0 down and had just 50% of the ball.
Other games?
Draws with Ireland, Gabon and now Israel. One loss to to Russia.
