Is this a rumor too? Finding loopholes to get ahead of the competition doesn't seem very role model like to me.

I grew up around golf, my grandfather was the head rules official for the PGA for 15 years. So needless to say, I have first hand experience of most golfers on tour, and my experiences aren't exactly based on rumors. However, some of my opinions are based on "rumors" from other professional golfers.

CBarca, Mickelson is no role model, the guy is a total douche. I really have no idea how he has the reputation he does among golf fans, but I guess it has more to do with his "style" of play and not his actual personality. It probably doesn't hurt that even when he's being a total dick he's still smiling. I think he has done well to rehab his reputation among his tour colleagues through actively taking some of the younger golfers under his wing.

Woods is just Woods, the guy is just a cold calculating individual. If he wasn't a golfer he'd be the perfect marine or a successful serial killer. I've been around him away from the golf course though and the guy is the king of the inappropriate joke, which is probably why him and Arnold Palmer get along so well. I'm not really all that surprised that he ended up being not as clean cut as we all thought.

Your role model should be golfers like Steve Stricker or Fred Couples. Those guys are just pure class. If you'd prefer a foreign golfer I'd go with Luke Donald or Lee Westwood.

Who cares what Tiger Woods does in his personal life. He could sleep with any hooker out there if he wants, it's his sex life and he is the one who decides where his penis is going to land, as long as it's not with someone underage.

Tiger Woods is a exceptional golfer and that is the only thing you should care about. If he doesn't value his marriage, I'm okay with that becouse he is the numero uno golfer. That's enough for me to praise him.

I never said he's a bad golfer, but I'm never going to respect a guy like Woods when there are guys Mickelson and (very good shout with) Fred Couples playing.

Which is why I don't agree with this appreciation thread and quite frankly I'd rather see one for those guys.

Tbh i don't really care for him as far as his personality goes but i do respect him hugely a sportsman and to come back after injury and personal troubles i think deserves respect.
