Spare a moment for the fortunes of Steven Taylor Empty Spare a moment for the fortunes of Steven Taylor

Post by Great Leader Sprucenuce Wed Mar 20, 2013 5:48 pm

Taylor wrote:"Last season [Capello] didn't come [to see Newcastle] when we had the best defensive record up to Christmas. The gaffer went to some event and Capello was there and he said: 'You should come up and see Taylor'. And Capello said: 'I'm all right for midfielders'. That did a lot for my confidence, it was almost back to the feeling I had when we got relegated."

Roy Hodgson is considering deploying Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick at centre-back according to The Times.

The England manager has seen his squad severely depleted by injury and is running out of choices for his backline.

Carrick’s England team-mate, Rio Ferdinand, pulled out of the squad after Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson met with Roy Hodgson to discuss his concerns over how Ferdinand’s call-up could affect his training regime.

England were dealt further blows when Chelsea’s Gary Cahill and Tottenham’s Michael Dawson were also forced to pull out of the squad after suffering injuries during their clubs’ matches during the weekend.

Hodgson has been forced into calling up Joleon Lescott, who has barely featured for Manchester City this term, and Steven Taylor, who has yet to make an appearance for the full England team.

Carrick has previously filled in at centre-back when Manchester United were suffering a similar injury crisis and it appears Hodgson is considering using the midfielder at the back rather than risk the likes of Lescott and Taylor.

where are newcastle in the table? nuff said.

i know just because newcastle as a whole defend bad doesnt mean tayler is a bad player but, the fact that he plays in defense for a club near the relagtion zone doesn't bold well for him.

Taylor has been injured for most of the season..... its no coincidence that since he's been back our form has improved dramatically.

He's been outstanding since returning, if you are actually going to comment on someone actually watch him.

Laughing Taylor is a decent player. I imagine that's tough to hear for any player that your NT coach doesn't even know who you are.

He's getting ignored because he plays for a team that english managers never actually watch.

Capello NEVER attended a Newcastle game in his whole regime, not one.

Nothing to do with him as a player, he's quality he just struggles with injuries.

No coincidence that for first 12 games of last season we was unbeaten and had the best defensive record in the league and when he got injured we fell apart and we lost 1 game this season before his injuries and then lost 10 of the next 12.

these stats Thumbs up . He reminds me of Cahill but i don't watch him enough to be sure. He is not hyped enough imo. The hype has a big effect on England's manager more often than not.
