Re: Arab investment in Roma?
Good news. We need some cash for next sseaon, though most of it will go to the stadium project. If it comes..
If we would have a transfer budget of 30 million, id be happy.

Re: Arab investment in Roma?
thing is he is maybe wealthy but he is no Mansour or al thani or any of those oil rich owners
I believe he will be looking into building an actual project not a dip win trophy GTFO

Re: Arab investment in Roma?
"It is rumoured Sheikh Adnan Adel Aref al Qaddumi al Shtewi could invest up to €100m in Roma, particularly the construction of a new stadium."
Big surprise, Pallotta and co. couldn't handle the financing themselves, didn't see that one coming... So, Arab money, American marketing and Italian sporting operations, either this is genius (the right mix of three strategies) or a set up for a ginormous disaster (the football equivalent of three kids pulling a doll in three different directions). Only time will tell.
One thing I will say is that I always hoped that it wouldn't come down to having to find a sheikh to throw his money at us and spend like crazy in order to get results. I still think there's other ways to win in football, but it would involve asking for a lot more patience, something we're definitely lacking.

Re: Arab investment in Roma?
Look at it this way...100m might just speed up the construction of the stadium by a fair bit. The sooner that's done, the better from the club. If it proves to be another Juventus Arena, we'll make that money back in no time.
Only upside to this that I see right now anyway.

Bank 'doubts' over Roma Sheikh
By Football Italia staff
Questions are raised over new Roma investor Sheikh Adnan Adel Aref al Qaddumi al Shtewi, as bank Unicredit confirm they “have some doubts.”
The Giallorossi released a statement this week announcing they had a preliminary agreement with the Sheikh for an investment, reported to be up to €100m.
He is expected to fly in to Boston today for a meeting with Roma President James Pallotta.
However, the media in Italy have been researching his business interests and are unconvinced, as he has been living in the country for over 20 years and yet has made hardly any investments.
Roma are still partly owned by the Unicredit bank as part of the deal that saved the club from bankruptcy under the Sensi family.
“By Monday or at most Tuesday, the Sheikh must prove he has the cash to invest,” warned Unicredit Vice-Director General Paolo Fiorentina.
“Without money, it will all disappear. Perhaps this move will have to be dragged out for a little longer. We might be wrong, but we do have some doubts on the consistency of his funds.”
Meanwhile, it is reported that the Sheikh is targeting Napoli Coach Walter Mazzarri for next season with Michele Padovano – who has acted as an intermediary in negotiations – joining the Board of Directors.

Re: Arab investment in Roma?
Ahhhh f*** no, I do not want Michele Padovano anywhere near this club. I don't want a drug smuggling, Moggi-lover to have anything to do with us. It's no coincidence that he was at a Roma-Juve game.

I will lose all faith in our management if either Padovano enters the club or this sheikh is trusted without any guarantees. And I mean I want proof that this guy has all the cash that he claims he has. And I want to see the history of his investments. I want to see where his money comes from (if it's done legally or if there is any money at all) and a list of every person he has ever done business with. If I can't rely on his past, no reason to trust him with our future.

Re: Arab investment in Roma?
I'm feeling the same way as you, Mike.
I never wanted this at all. I hope Roma continues to be the most honest, and respected club on the peninsula. Hopefully this Sheik is a romanista, as I have read that he has been living in italy for 25 years, but with the recent news this is troubling.
I want Roma to have nothing to do with the ugly, and bad part of Italy and Italian football.

Re: Arab investment in Roma?
The media are not certain about this guy's identity and apparently he promised to invest in some other clubs and never did , is he a real sheikh Suger Daddy or a fake investor that might cause trouble?

Re: Arab investment in Roma?
We'll be fine without him. Nothing much has change from my perspective. He would've provided a cash injection mainly which might've sped up the stadium construction, but really it doesn't matter much. We'll have it done in a couple more seasons and that will be that.
The money from the Nike deal coupled with getting back in Europe (if that happens) should be a nice windfall next season.
