Get rid of the 5 minute glitch. Display connection strength, so they either opt in or out. No excuses.

Re: FIFA 14 discussion
Improved shooting
With a reworking of the ball physics to add movement and power, shooting should be more realistic and more satisfying than ever. You can hit the ball harder, dipping and low-rising shots are now possible, and players will take different types of shot according to the situation they are in. Strikers may have to dig a ball out of their feet, rush their shot or open up their body to get a better angle. It's a new level of depth that we hope will make shooting more exciting whether you're bagging goals as Higuain or Holt.
"Protect the ball"
Not a system for holding your player's unmentionables during freekicks, instead "Protect the ball" is actually FIFA's buzzword for a feature that sees you use strength and shielding to take and keep possession. Hold the left trigger to take advantage of your player's power to keep the ball and fight for loose balls, or tap it while dribbling to hold off defenders' physical challenges. It could give you plenty of incentive to have a Fellaini in your squad.
"Variable first touch"
Speed demons beware: "variable first touch" means the ball won't move a set distance away from your sprinting player's feet. Skilled dribblers like Bale and Suarez will be better at keeping hold of the ball at pace, but others may take more inconsistent or heavier touches as they fly forward, giving defenders a chance to end their run. Along with "protect the ball" it gives us confidence that EA is reining in the effectiveness of speed and putting attacking variety at the core of FIFA 14. We're all for that.
An end to cheap goals
If this works it'll be a godsend. Better defensive AI will see defenders marking tighter, applying pressure as a team, and tracking the improved attacking runs more effectively. Second chance tackles will give them the opportunity to throw out a leg (not in a wild Joey Barton way) at a passing player if they've already committed to a tackle. EA says this, along with other new features, are all about making the game more varied and taking away the number of cheap goals from quick counter attacks, long lofted through balls and pacey strikers. Please work. Please. For the sake of our rage-damaged controllers.
New Skill games
More than 2.2 billion skills games have been played on FIFA 13 since it was released. These are back in FIFA 14, with new ones added and others refreshed. I was shown a striking game where players hit a line of balls at the goal one at a time, and a classic "keep the ball" game where seven players attempted to hold on to the ball against four defenders in a small section of the pitch.
New defensive options
EA has tightened up the marking system and given the AI the ability to track runs better. It's also introduced second-chance tackles, which will give defending players a small window of opportunity to stick out a leg after they've already committed to a tackle. Lastly there's "dynamic defensive pressure" which we're told will see teammates recognising when to apply and relax pressure to their markers.

Pure Shot: Shooting has been transformed. Players have the intelligence to adjust their stride and approach angle to find the best position for hitting the back of the net. Well-hit balls feel satisfying and goals are rewarding. As well as quality strikes, players can now shoot while off balance or rushed.
Real Ball Physics: Strike the ball with more force and finesse. Realistic ball physics now determines the trajectories of balls in game, enabling players to strike the ball with force from distance, drill low rising shots with accuracy, and blast dipping or swerving shots, just like real footballers.
Protect The Ball: Dominate midfield and dictate the tempo of a match. Fend-off and block defenders from the ball while dribbling at any speed. Protect the ball from opponents to control play through midfield and dictate the pace of the match. Plus, out-muscle opponents for position before receiving the ball, then turn defenders to carve out opportunities.
Teammate Intelligence: Better decision-making delivers tighter, smarter marking and improved run tracking. Defenders recognize opportunities to provide support and win back possession. Attacking players have new ways to outsmart their opponents and break down tighter, more intelligent defences by creating space for themselves, running along the backline and checking their pace.
Sprint Dribble Turns: Utilize quick, explosive cuts and turns to beat defenders one-on-one while sprinting with the ball. Players can move in any direction, preserving their natural momentum and maintaining possession of the ball.
Variable Dribble Touches: The First Touch Control of dribbling varies a player's touch when dribbling with pace. Skilled players have the touch and control to stand out while less skilled players will experience fewer perfect touches and more uncertainty dribbling, creating opportunities for defenders to win back possession, and placing emphasis on building play through midfield.
2nd Chance Tackles: The tackling zone has been extended to enable defenders to combine different types of tackles, recover from missed tackles quickly, and have a second chance to compete for the ball in any tackling situation.
Curling Lofted Through Balls: Players have the ability to curl the ball around opponents to deliver precision passes to teammates or send the ball into space.
Skill Games: A competitive practice mode that enable players to learn or master the fundamental skills necessary to compete at FIFA 14. Become a better player, faster, no matter what your skill level, competing against yourself or friends in all-new mini-games.
Career Mode: Search for talent year-round with the new Global Scouting Network that brings the world of professional scouting to life. Develop and refine your own scouting network. Evaluate footballers to uncover the attributes of players who could bolster your squad during the transfer windows. A new hub delivers easy navigation, fewer interruptions and live scouting reports.
Complete Authenticity: All the authenticity EA SPORTS is known for with officially licensed clubs, leagues and more than 15,000 players.

Re: FIFA 14 discussion
Innovations to the franchise’s award-winning* gameplay will make FIFA 14 the complete matchday experience, introducing features that inspire fans to build play through midfield, dictate the tempo of a match and create rewarding opportunities. Great football matches are achieved through measured build up and incredible finishing. A new feature in FIFA 14 called Pure Shot and a brand-new ball physics system will transform shooting, making every shot attempt feel real, and when players connect with the perfect strike, feel exhilarating.
“FIFA 14 will play the way great football matches are contested with build up through midfield, tension throughout the match as chances are created, and incredible finishing,” said David Rutter, Executive Producer for FIFA 14. “Opportunities in FIFA 14 will be rewarding and great goals will look stunning.”
Finishing has been transformed with Pure Shot so players have the intelligence to adjust their stride and approach angle to find the best position for hitting the back of the net. Well-hit balls feel more exhilarating and rewarding. New shot types include pure strikes, as well as off-balance and rushed shots. Plus, Real Ball Physics now determines the trajectories of balls, enabling players to kick the ball with force from distance, drill low rising shots with accuracy, and blast dipping or turbulent shots, just like real footballers.
Fans will be able to create rewarding build up to opportunities and have the tools to dictate the tempo of a match through four new features. Protect The Ball will enable players to fend-off and block defenders from the ball while dribbling at any speed, or out-muscle opponents for position before receiving the pass, then turn defenders to carve out opportunities. Teammate Intelligence has been improved on both sides of the ball. New decision-making logic delivers tighter, smarter marking and improved run tracking where defenders recognize opportunities to provide support and win back possession, while attacking players have new ways to outsmart their opponents by creating space for themselves, running along the backline and checking their pace. Major changes to ball control add new tools to win the midfield battles. Sprint Dribble Turns enable players to turn in every direction at sprint speed while preserving momentum, delivering the control and confidence to take on defenders one-on-one. Variable Dribble Touches introduces variety on touches when sprinting. Skilled players will have better touch and more control when sprinting with the ball.
In addition to innovations to gameplay, FIFA 14 is introducing a game-changing new way to play Career Mode. The Global Scouting Network brings the world of professional scouting to life. Players now develop and refine a scouting network and search for talent year-round. Scouts can evaluate footballers all over the world to uncover the attributes and traits of every player in the game, in preparation for the transfer windows. Plus, a new hub delivers easy navigation, fewer interruptions and live scouting reports.
FIFA 14 will deliver engaging online** features and live services that connect fans to the heartbeat of the sport—and to each other—through EA SPORTS Football Club, making FIFA 14 football's social network, where fans connect, compete and share with millions of others around the world. The game will also feature:
Changes to the wildly popular FIFA Ultimate Team
A new online Mode that will encourage social competition
Multiple new features and benefits to EA SPORTS Football Club, the live service that is the heartbeat of FIFA
Complete authenticity with more than 500 officially licensed clubs.

This is pretty much the only thing I care about. The other features sound nice and should improve the look of the match, but it's going to mean little if players still behave illogically.
We can only hope they make significant strides in this.

Thank the gods they're going to let your defenders mark the *bleep* predictable over the top through ball runs. It was too easy for pacey *bleep* to abuse.
I tihnk yet again Pro Clubs is getting neglected because it's not a profit spinner like ultimate team. The only changes it gets is changes that happen on every other game mode like the league system.
All I want is custom kits and badges, customise the looks and names of your A.I teammates and sort out any abusive ways to win and the commentary (Won't get into it)
But none of that will ever make an appearance.

In depth career mode news will probably come later like last year.

I can swear some of the stuff they're talking about as being new, are in FIFA 13.. I always feel that way whenever a new FIFA comes out lol
Like those dipping shots and stuff, it happens in FIFA 13.. Plus that lay off shot into a finesse shot they showed in that video I do often

Re: FIFA 14 discussion
EA have outdone themselves once again.
Instead of addressing the problems that need to be reinvigorated (graphics and countless others) they insult the intelligence of the masses by adding nonsensical features such as "more degrees of dribbling; more animations" and other micro-features to which won't be noticeable at all. I know they have a year to complete their work, yet the lack of innovation and change within their yearly churned games rivals COD about now.
Smart given they play a negative sum economic game.

In terms of shielding the ball, I've rarely ever done it/noticed anyone do it against me. I think 'shielding the ball' will probably have a better animation, which'll make it stand out more.
Anyway one of the biggest thing I want in FIFA is for players like Pirlo, Xavi, Alonso etc to be prominent. I mean currently they're just like any player who can pass the ball.

Re: FIFA 14 discussion
I agree with you all
These pointless changes have to fkn stop. Instead of implementing something new then focus on perfecting it, they implement it then leave it broken and bugged only to turn to something new.
And yeah MT it's nearly impossible to dictate tempo and pass it around properly due to a combined idiotic passing system where you can't run towards the pass and then factor in the pacey players who can just pressure you non-stop.
They need to slow it down a bit, and if you keep running about non-stop you should reach the point where you can barely jog after 60 minutes, nevermind recover from a pointless injury and get right back to it...

Yeh, players need to get tired.
However I think they need to get rid of that tired animation. It's unrealistic and even if you just run the entire pitch at the start of the match, your player is in that tired animation.

Re: FIFA 14 discussion
Yeah it's poor.
Basically if somebody wants to never let go of the sprint button they need to be crippled from early in the 2nd half to the end of the game. Otherwise FIFA need to just make the game slower in all aspects. Which won't happen because they make so much money from UT where young kids can abuse pace and feel good about themselves without knowing a *bleep* thing about tactics.
UT makes money, Pace makes UT and it won't go away sadly.

Yeah any player can seemingly get it on target and so fast you can't follow the flight of the ball from anywhere within 40 yards it's stupid. I scored earlier with Gotze and even I found it stupendous.
I had a shot in the box and from being nearly still Gotze brought his leg back and launched it so fast that when I watched it after on slow-mo it was still pretty pacey compared to a real life standing shot.

Yeah funny as it is Arq you make a great point.
I dug out a whole bunch of FIFA game cases and read the back. On one FIFA you have a so called new improved dribbling feature that puts YOU in control. Next one has new, tight dribbling control which allows you to take control.
Then another FIFA or two along you get 360 degrees dribbling, dribble like never before.
All they do is add some skill moves, give any player who is dribbling a different animation and bump up the sensitivity.

Remember when you could actually control an off-the ball player?
What else do you expect from a company that replaces that with an easier way to do tricks & dribbles?
