Question: Where is the Kos love gone from arsenal fans. A while back he was the god CB?

He's our best defender, but Wenger doesn't have the balls to drop Vermaelen (captain)

Arquitecto wrote:EPL- Nemaja Vidic. Kompany? LOL. The guy shivers in the knees when against a tricky opponents with a bag of guile, craft and art. Vidic tends to struggle against the same at times yet has proven and performed far better than Kompany. So then, I'd actually go for a more controversial opinion, forget lunk head Vidic:
EPL; Johnny Evans.
Very well said.I don't like to nominate, but if I have to pick the best centre-back from Manchester United...this season so far, I would choose Jonny Evans. He seems to have more football intelligence than Smalling & Jones; this isn't a surprise, because he is a little bit older. He is strong, very good at positioning when he is defending and our best aerial threat for the opposite teams at crosses and corners. He finally reached the needed maturity to represent United in important games.
Congrats Jonny
Other excellent CBs from EPL:
Daniel Agger, hugely underestimated.
Vidic, still a beast. He saved our asses today against Soton.
Kompany: above average, but not the best.
Chico and Vertonghen: two of the best, but also a little bit underestimated.

Agger was at fault for another goal today btw, he's been fantastic in past seasons but this season he's been poor.
Probably getting the shit defense disease from the rest of the league.

Yep.Every single CB made at least one big mistake this season in EPL.
At times, I thought Coloccini is one of the best, but then he proved me that I was wrong .

Marq, Roncaglia, Chiellini and Campagnaro have been excellent in the 1st half of the season

Re: best CB in your league
Colo has been shite this season too tbh, i have to wonder if its to do with his wife being ill and future uncertain because he's been pretty great since we got him to stay.
None the less i can't lie he's been pretty bad compared to what i expect of him, there are reasons why i can think of why but theres no need to make excuses.

Given our defensive record over the past couple of seasons evidently he doesn't meet any at all.

i did not watch many real madrid games this season, why some people think varane as the best CB in la liga? is he the first choice of mourinho in defense?

Re: best CB in your league
Bpl: I don't understand how ppl discredit Kompany and praise Evans when Man U are conceding a ridiculous amount of goals , whereas City are comfortably the team with the best defense in BPL. Sure Kompany hasn't been at his very best but with the state of the BPL's current cb's he doesn't have to be , to be considered the best.
Ligue 1: Thiagoat ( even i've refused to watch him play for PSG )
Serie A: Daniele Bonera imo
Le* Liga: Don't really rate any defender there, although Pique is the most talented i can't give him the title of best since he rarely is motivated to do so for a sustained period of time. Even at his old age i'd rate Puyol as the best Cb in the league
PSL ( South African league ): Bongani Khumalo

Re: best CB in your league
PL: AGGER FFS AGGER
La Liga: Puyol
Ligue 1: Silva imho
Serie A: Chiellini?
Bundesliga: Hummels since he's gotten back to his consistency, though Dante has been immense, and Höwedes is still goat, but Schalke is sadly collapsing around him, Wollscheid has been bossing it, Kirchhoff looking strong... The main thing about BL is that most teams only have one great CB, so they all don't look too well^^

And don't forget Stubsi, before he had to stand in as LB for Alaba and then got injured.
