Kind of both? He isn't directly responsible for the content being shared on Megaupload, but he is responsible for not making it harder to share copyrighted content once infringements have been reported. However, I don't see why he was pursued and the other 394329492342392374 file sharing websites saw no penalty.

Also, he's obviously a brilliant programmer.

What do you suggest he could've done to make it harder? From what I understand he did everything the law asked him to do, which makes his being treated like a terrorist completely outrageous.

Maybe cancelled sharing privileges the way Filesonic has done. But I agree, he has been made a scapegoat.

A little bit of both... He's acting far too oblivious, but there's no doubt he was within the law. The government just wants to pick someone to use as an example, and he got the short straw.
