No way. Any sane man could see that Fellaini was rubbish and would've subbed him 20 mins in - or not started him at all.
still got a draw though when everyone expected a battering
yeah sure we dont know what will happen in the 2nd leg, but its ok to admit utd proved ppl wrong
ok all those buyern possession stats are cute but utd scored as many goals as buyern- one. All that matters

Re: David Moyes is a Football Genius
I'm not one of those fools who has a hard on for possession stats, but surely you must recognise the glaring deficiencies in Man U's game against Bayern in terms of tactics.El Chelsea Fuerte wrote:Forza wrote:Oh, for sure, it's a good result when you consider that Man U have been shite all season, but if you take into account that one of the biggest clubs in the world was playing Championship Level hoofball for the whole game with very few shots on target and hardly any possession at home, it's pretty disappointing for them. The result is all important, but it is pivotal that you arrive at the result in a systematic way which is capable of repetition in future games. I'm not saying that Man U fluked this, but I am saying that if they play the same way against Bayern again, they will lose horrifically.
The first half yielded next to no chances for Man U and I bet Moyes was very happy for it to end at 0-0. Rio and Vidic were solid, but the WBs were continually roasted. Bayern failed to capitalise, partly due to playing Muller as a ST instead of Mandzukic, and also some poor crossing. Man U's midfield gave the ball away continually and within 1 or 2 passes of having received the ball from the defence - especially Fellaini. They could not escape the press, except by long-balling it. No midfielder was comfortable in possession.
Man U's wingers were more effective in the second half, when Kagawa was there to provide some supply, but Rooney and Welbeck were starved of goal-scoring chances for long spells of the game in both halves.
Man U's only goal came from a corner and Man U's best chance of the game from open play fell to Welbeck after a Rooney long-throw. Unfortunately, Welbeck tried to dink Neuer instead of taking the smart, simple option and slotting it to his side.
Point being, if you want to win whilst playing a counter-attacking game, you have to counter fast and be clinical with the few shots you get. Moyes did not set up the team to do that today. Imo, Kagawa and Hernandez are much more suited to this type of game than Giggs and Fellaini, the latter two being awfully slow.

If the title is to be decided on GD, I'd seriously back us to score 15 past Newcastle at Anfield

We still are. Winning 4-0 away from home is always contract extension worthy.
Jokes aside, Bayern winless in their last 3 games, and Moyes finally picking up where Fergie left off. Wonder what Wednesday night has for us

Re: David Moyes is a Football Genius
I bet there's a portrait of Moyes somewhere, looking all angelic, youthful and full of life and everytime United lose a game, real life Moyes ages 10 years while the portrait gets younger. Some of the shots of his face tonight, peeking out from the dugout, deep within the blackness of eternity, with shadows dancing about his brow, were truly horrifying

Moyes will keep improving. The squad will eventually be molded to Moyes desire.

Re: David Moyes is a Football Genius
Awful manager. Never seen a manager do so catastrophically in one season, in terms of the team he's managing and the weight of expectations.
There will books and movies done about his disastrous tenure of United in the future.
Waking up to news of his sacking will be akin to Utd winning the CL. That's how badly I, and many Utd fans, want him gone.

" you're getting sacked in the morning" - sang the Everton fans today.
Even the toffees making fun of him ( they'd be grateful to him anyway...)
