5 mil bid for Florian Thauvin, the 20 year old AM of Bastia. He's been offered by Lille and Newcastle.
Nice little player that can become really good with time. Already has an impact in Ligue 1.
These are the type of rumors that actually have a chance of happening lol.

We've been linked with a young DM from France, too, though his name escapes me at the moment.
This kid has, also, been linked with Newcastle.

Gilbert Imbula I think ?
Florian Thauvin has potential but he is as old as Eisfeld. Although more experienced. I will take him but i don't know ?

Thauvin seems a bit a unnecessary since we already have Eisfeld. They both seem to play in identical positions. I'd rather we just gave Eisfeld more chances.

You can't compare a guy who is doing extremely well in Ligue 1 with a kid who's never played top flight footy... Thauvin is much, much farther along.

At least Eisfeld performed well whenever hes given a chance.
I like Eisfeld's quick little foot... Kind of like young Rosicky

Can Thauvin play on either flank? If yes, is he better than what we already have in the first team? Is he better than Podolski/Walcott? If not, next target pls

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
I think he's better than Walcott tbh and he's a natural backup to Cazorla. The idea is to give Cazorla some rest and perhaps competition.
Thauvin has been extremely good... so much so that Lille want him to replace Martin and Newcastle want him to become their starting AM.

Not really true, we have Cabaye and Marveaux for that position and even Ben Arfa.... we want him for same reasons we want Haidara to beef up the squad.
But there's not much chance of him joining as a starter.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
But we already have backups for Cazorla... Wilshere, Rosicky and Ramsey. Don't really think we need another one.
Personally I think we need a versatile forward who can play anywhere in the final third (example: Adrian Lopez) or just a striker (example: Soldado), and a DM (example: Capoue) and some internal changes.
Bench: Martinez, Jenkinson, Vermaelen, Diaby/Coquelin, Ramsey, Podolski, Giroud
That should keep us in top 4, give Bayern a run in the CL, good FA Cup run and hopes for bigger changes in the summer.

Who do we have like Lopez?
There are other options though, it's not like Lopez is the only good available forward in the world.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Based on what i heard in France, he made it clear he wanted to start wherever he went unless he got offered by a top team... Arsenal is the only top team on his radar. So i assumed you guys made that representation to him. If not, he's not going to Newcastle then lol.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:sportsczy wrote:I think he's better than Walcott tbh and he's a natural backup to Cazorla. Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
He may start but rather on one of the wings, my point is he wouldn't start at AM.
I mean he can't be worse than Jonas/Obertan
Edit: he won't come anyway as Arsenal have offered double what we offered and we won't pay that sort of money.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
lol true. Only thing is that Arsenal is the Man City of youth players.... he's not worth 5 mil right now lol. But i doubt Bastia would sell him unless it was for around 5 mil; they have no incentive to do so otherwise. May still not do it anyow.

To stock up on AMs and "tricky wingers"? So get ready for a revolutionary 2-0-7-1 formation.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Wilshere is no AM. Ramsey has pretty much failed there and is being used on the wing. Rosicky has just lost too much pace... in EPL, that's the kiss of death.

Wat?
sportsczy wrote:Ramsey has pretty much failed there and is being used on the wing.
No he hasn't, he hasn't even played there because of Cazorla and Wilshere. Ramsey is played there because Wenger does that with everyone who wants to play centrally, Wenger has already mentioned that he likes his wide players to play centrally and his central players wide in their early days so they get known with multiple situations in a game and that's what he's doing with Ramsey, he's preparing him for the future.
sportsczy wrote:Rosicky has just lost too much pace... in EPL, that's the kiss of death.
He never used pace anyway, his experience and passing is still very useful and there's a good reason why Arsenal fans still ask when he'll be fit and play.
Dunno why you keep insisting about this really, I doubt there are many fans that think we need an AM now, especially a 19 years old one.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
You think Wilshere is a AM... really??? He's not. He plays CM all the way. He may be able to do it. But i've never seen him play that far forward and have to orchestrate. He's great making runs into the final 1/3 at full speed.
Ramsey... come on. We've seen him tried over and over again at AM for 2 years now and he's a turnover machine. Wenger puts him on the wing so that, if he turns it over, we're not left in a terrible situation.
Rosicky had enough speed before. Now he doesn't. You need a a little bit.
Not insisting. Just saying that buying a AM makes a lot of sense. We're playing Cazorla into the ground because Wenger doesn't trust anyone behind him.... even if it's someone to sub him out for late in games.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Rosicky has not lost his pace. In the past year, he has been more impressive than he had been for years prior due to getting an injury-free period, and his mobility has been as impressive as ever. I do not understand how anyone could think that Rosicky isn't good enough when he has given nothing but great performances. He is injury-prone, so that is a worry, but his quality is not a concern as of yet.
We could get an AM, but Wilshere, Arteta, Arshavin (if he isn't sold), Ramsey and Eisfeld can also all play there, with AOC seen by Wenger as a future CM. Another AM wouldn't hurt, but it must be someone versatile who can also play on the wings if need be. I do not consider a CAM a top priority right now.

We have so many AMs that I believe it creates an unbalanced team.
I think that we need a consistent physical defense minded b2b with vision. Songs replacement that we do not have.
A consistent CF that has the ability to hold the ball up deep with his back to the goal and the vision to either turn towards goal and shoot or make the correct pass to cutters. RVPs replacement that we do not have.
A CAM that has the ability to hold the ball up in tight spaces and either find a pass or move through defenders. Cesc replacement that we never replaced and IMHO the best we have is Rosicky with him getting shut for reasons said to be injury. It was my impression that it was supposed to be Einsfelds preferred position but he can not get a game. Wilshere and Ox have both had a few moments but have shown a lack of consistency.
A LB that can play defense along with join in the attack. To compete with Gibbs who is good in attack and not so much in defense.
