Philippe Auclair says that Juan Mata was once so close to joining Arsenal, he "believed he was an Arsenal player" - http://bit.ly/V8lHhY

Yeah, so did we. Then Arsenal FC decided to warm their couches instead of tying up the deal.
You guys know what we really really need?
Finishers. People to broker and FINISH up deals decisively before we get swamped and shafted.

It was not Wenger who kept us from sinking, it was due to brilliance certain individual players who played their heart out to keep Arsenal up and were sold for footballing reasons.
So according to that logic, Pep and Tito are both poor managers and Messi, xavi n co won both of them trophies ?
RG not really, last year the traitor was scoring goals out of his ass. It came down the the last game of the season and we were lucky to score 3rd goal finish in the top 4.
We still have a great squad but we still get outplayed almost every game and we have no identity anymore. Wenger looks lost, I believe with the right coach this squad can challenge.

It seems that at least according to some sources they've got the flu, does seem a bit coincidental though... Would love to see one of 'em at Arsenal, do hope my Everton get Capoue though, he looks class.

If we were to sign Cavani, everybody who has posted in this thread for the last 16 days, including myself, would need to join together in a slow clap of approval and apology to Arsene.

I would look at a major change in transfer policy like that as less to do with Wenger and more to do with the fans and pundits actually voicing their displeasure. If AFC were to get Cavani that would be so much farther than Wengers normal panic buying failures that someone else would have to be involved. So if we were to get Cavani I think we should all give ourselves a pat on the back. Then keep speaking out since we will still need a few pieces.

Isn't Fellaini's release clause £25mil or something?
Most likely Cavani if that's true. Don't think we're looking at players like Goetze at this moment in time.

Is it really possible that we go for someone without the media and IBA/Internet Bullshit Artist crowd getting a whiff of it?
He's taking the piss. Unless the bids accepted and we actually sign someone.
I will believe it when arsenal.com reports it.

Shhh. You're not helping with keeping a lid on the expectations part.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
It's exciting to hear, but it's likely that our bid will be rejected and doubtful that we'd try and negotiate. It you're bidding £30mil for a player, the selling club will 100% try and get more out of you.
If, by some miracle, we negotiate an agreeable price, then we'll have to deal with the player's demands and his party of agents. In a deal this big, that could take a very long time, with several complications. Knowing us, we wouldn't be able to get it done in the time left in this window.
Have I successfully rained on the parade yet?

I doubt that if we're bidding 30 million then the player isn't worth a great deal more lol.

Geoff confirmed to me in a DM just now that Arsenal asked him to delete the tweet (Gonella guy from Arsenal on twitter follows him)
£30m bid is true. Only Q is, who for? My guess is Jovetic.
