What did you think of that 4-2-2-2 vs Celta Vigo?

I think Ozil and Modric were linking up well. Our possession play was much better. We weren't just hoofing it to the wings and randomly crossing it in. Our pressing was better as well. Ronaldo looked more lively too.

I'm sure when Marcelo returns, it'll work better due to his overlapping.

yea. it was good.

but higuain needs to start in this. he is direct and no nonsense.

he makes great runs and pull defenders to him opening space for others attacking.

he is always looking to run in the box, he wants to score goals. i find he complements ronaldo better in some games more and more. than benzema.

it looked superb, but need to see it again, maybe it was just celta that made it work this good

I think Mourinho go the tactics spot on Modric and Ozil had a free role behind Ronaldo and Benzema. Khedira pushed forward a lot and performed well in the box to box role.

For once we saw a lot of width to our game provided by both Essien (RB) and Arbeloa (LB), this allowed the narrow 4-2-2-2 to really function properly.

That tactic was perfect against a team that had been set up to sit on a 2-1 first leg lead but I doubt we'd be using it in a lot of our other matches.

are you even surprised it worked well? you remove on idiot of football (Di Maria) out of the team and all of a sudden the game is more fluid.

you play two real AMs with different traits behind a runner and a baller like benzema and you are surprised we played smoothly? lol.

sadly, when xabi went out and mou decided to play long balls again, we looked shit again, but hey, that's just the mou.

i like the 4-2-2-2 personally, but we do have to keep some things in perspective.

celta vigo have done well this year, they have done great at home (as we personally saw) but they have been awful away from home.

and we still kinda stuggled in the second half even if the scoreline doesnt show it.

1st half we were on point though and the 4-2-2-2 worked great.

I think it would work even better with Modric alongside Khedira and a CAM like Gotze, Isco, Silva near Ozil.

Celta were resting 6 of their regulars. They are concentrating on avoiding relegation and didn't take this game seriously. Just saying.

How can it be their best lineup when they leave their best player on the bench in the first place: Aspas. Their goalkeeper was the reserve goalkeeper instead of the regular Javi Varas. Their leftback was Bellvis, a guy who has only played some 300 minutes in La Liga this season. Likewise their DM: Vila. Oubina is their regular DM. A relegation candidate playing with their second string and didn't really believe to get something out of the Bernabeu. Nothing to see here. In fact 2-0 until the 87th minute was a bit meh.
