This surely is fake? When does the vote actually take place? Still remember that yr Flo got it postponed when CR beat Sweden to qualify so he could win it, back when Flo had money.

Not sure if it's fake, pretty likely, but obviously Lewandowski must win it as he's by far the best player since a couple of years.

Would be funny if Lewandowski won it and Benzema be third by winning fuck all. But it's probably fake. Why would Messi's name be marked in the paper, and vote count not showing? Doesn't make sense. I bet it's these modern influencing methods to make betting odds great again, as in presidential races and cryptofrauds.

It shouldn't have been cancelled last year.

It's only right to retrospectively give it to Lewa for last year. For last season, I think Messi is the best choice.

I think it should be a seasonal award, and not a yearly award.

Based on last season, Messi was top scorer and best player in La Liga, won a cup with Barça, and the Copa with Argentina.

The season before, Lewa clearly deserved it for the season with Bayern and winning the CL.

I think this half a year should only count for next year's award since it is a different season. Typically, this is almost always how the award has been given, but the half year form of someone could suddenly change some minds.

Because the Lewa odds hike was from the leaks, which made no sense. They got money from better Messi odds. If there's any justice in the world Messi wins 7th, but that's long gone since Cronaldo won his second.

I've always said it makes more sense for this to be a seasonal deal. The best time to hand out this type of award is in september, before the season starts and when the business end of the previous season is still fresh in our minds.

I dont even know why they insist on the current schedule. Besides, the weather in september is generally better if you wanna hold a gala and do all that unnecessary extra stuff. I'm not sure about messi deserving it though, just for the record

I'm not hating on messi. Its a simple fact that he doesnt deserve the award this year and france football canceled last year FOR ONE REASON ALONE which is Lewa would have won it and they cant cope with that reality.

I can't see Lewa winning either. There's always a paper leak every year that never ends up being true. Some reputable Portuguese outlet reported Messi won it a week ago. I believe that's the main reason the odds have flipped.

If that's the case not surprising. No one cares about Lewa dunking on Bundesfodder. Benz's late shameless Perez backed media push wouldn't be enough. Jorginho being in there split the votes among all three. I feel like it was a given Messi would win the moment he won an international trophy with Argentina. There wasn't any other moment that had the footballing world talking as much. Players who weren't even from there were posting insta stories congratulating him. Laughing

not a popular opinion. but i felt what oblak did for atleti, makes a solid case for himself. i'd give it to him, its rare that a goalie's performances leads to a league title. some of the goalies who have been nominees in the past, had solid performances in the summer tournaments, and their teams for the most part were dominant in the league, thanks to the outfield players....oblak had a huge say in preventing us winning liga last year

and i still maintain, turn this into an end of season award and if its the puskas' goal of the year that's giving u a headache; announce ballon d'or winners in september and present their awards end of the year with ure puskas award. do ure voting and all that when performances at the business end of the season is still fresh

As for giving the award to Lewand to make up for last yr just doesnt make sense. Wouldnt it simply mean that this yrs best player than is unfairly discounted? Or then each after onwards the award should be counting the yr b4 instead of the current one to make up for this back-award to Lewand? Very Happy

It is just bad luck for Lewand, and this yrs award should just be as it is normally, unless for this yrs award ONLY they count the past TWO yrs performances TOGETHER when voting, I guess that could also be fair but I doubt it.

Lewand has kept a great level but prolly not as great as last yr, n so when u compare it with what Messis done, they are close, n especially if its just counting last yr it should be Messi.
