Arsenal Vs Bayern Munich

Bayern are like the Borg from Star Trek. They are a collective

Arsenals full backs provide nothing going forward.In general Arsenals transitions from defense to attack are far too slow.

Arsenals pressing off the ball is poor.

Arsenals midfield is too lightweight,Bayerns midfield dominating them,far too much space for Bayern in the middle.

Bayern have been excellent all over the pitch.

Well Vermaelen isn't a LB and Sagna is our more defensive fullback with only Ramsey (who is not a RM and should never be played as one) in front of him. It's hard to defend Arsene's tactics when the team plays so terribly when using them. If there aren't wholesale changes in how we're set up in the 2nd half, all hope is lost.

Sagna is nowadays plain average. That's a side note, though. Bayern are a class above Arsenal. Can't wait to see them against one of the top 3-5 sides in Europe.

A prototypical away performance by Bayern Munich. What needed to be done, got done. I don't think that there is any way back for Arsenal.

It's not what he did too wrong, it's what he couldn't do. (Compare to Lahm, for instance).

Let's put it this way that if this Sagna played for a mid-table team, Arsenal wouldn't come in buying him.

I think its also safe to say that Bayern look far more dangerous and may i add devastating too without Robben and Gomez in the lineup.Some of the movement from their players(Mueller in particular),their linking up and one touch passing was just immaculate to say the least.Besides it seems like the perfect ploy to use Robben as an 'impact sub' as he could come on and cause havoc with his fresh legs.Bayern have also learnt to counter a lot better than compared to last season imo,thats one big difference i've seen in this current side.

I'll be honestly shocked not to see this team in the last 4 at the very least.

Nothing really but when the game is so compact in the middle nowadays fullbacks need to offer more going forward.

People laugh at the likes of Marcelo and Alba but they are match winners.

Fact is with teams only only normally using 1 forward these days with midfield runners you don't need more than your 2 Cbs being back at all times.

Having defensive fullbacks who offer zilch going forward are a waste.

I was not amused by Neuer's mess-up for Poldi's goal

Bayern were impressive defensively. No wonder they barely concede any goals. Arsenal scored from a corner that wasn't even a corner.

Since Arsenal couldn't infiltrate Bayern's defense, they could have maybe sat back and countered using Walcott's pace.

i agree mole, defensive fullbacks are overrated. we just dont need them in todays game

Our attack wasn't Arsenal-quality and our defence was about as bad as ever. Our midfield actually had more possession and tried to create, but there's a big difference between having RvP to work with vs. 3 players who are arguably not in their best positions (Podolski on the left, Theo in the centre, Ramsey on the right). Arsenal are a broken club right now.

And as for Sagna, say whatever you will, but he's still our best defender hands-down.

If Sagna attacked Ribery would rape our whole defence. He actually kept him quiet and I was impressed. If you want to blame someone for this horrible performance start with Wenger for his team selection and his poor defensive tactics.
